My thoughts and Prayers to all the family and friends that have been effected by this tragic waste of life. Although i live in the remote highlands of scotland i still share the grief and have many friends that live close to the area in NYC and i do hope they are ok. So mindless, and a tradegy..,.. This... situation is very unreal.. I'm right next to NYC and this is most certainly a situation that has shocked us all... I'm still trying to get in touch with family in NY.. but all cell lines are down, and there is sporadic phone connections.. simply put, this is like being in some odd movie... rest assured we are NOT happy about this.. I can't even begin to imagine the death count.. 4 passenger planes downed, the Pentagon on fire, and both world trade towers collapsed.. Keep us in your thoughts, I don't think this has ended yet..

I live only 6 hours away from NYC. Things are hectic in my city and bomb threats left and right. I wish these crazy people wouldn't act like that after a tragedy has just happened. I'm very shaken and depressed. I'm praying that an all-out war will not occur.

Oh my God! How deep must be the hate in these people, who were doing this! More frightening: Some people in the world are celebrating this repulsive cowardly idea! it's deeply weird... I work at Commerzbank in Frankfurt, they own the tallest building in Europe, the "Japan Tower" I work on the 13th floor of the small brown building next to it, it's a wierd experience to be on the phone to your mother and look out of the window wondering if any of the planes you can see landing and taking off at the airport are going to be comming your way. We all went down to the trading floor to watch CNN as the internet was swamped, then all the traders were told to go home early... My condolences to the families of those that lost thier lives today, and to those that will lose thiers in the comming days and weeks, both victims and perpetrators. God help the Japanese when/if the markets open tomorrow, because if you think it looks bad now...

I have 2 second cousins that work in the WTC. Just heard that they are both okay. They were in the WTC but on lower floors of the north tower. One is totally unhurt, the other has minor injuries. My heart goes out to the families and friends of those who did not make it out.

I can only add my sympathies to those already expressed. I work around the Westminster and Whitehall area of London, and we felt we had had it bad here in those bad times with bombs in London. However this just goes beyond imagination,I just can't get to grips with it. My son was very very close to the area of the Bishopsgate bomb in London, and I know how I felt then, so I really mean it when I say my heart goes out to all people in America, and especially to those most closely concerned. I wonder how many people in this community will be like me and trying to compose an image for peace.

I Think I know a little how they feel. My uncle was in manhatan when It happened, nothing happened to him (Thank god). I could now believe when I saw it on TV, the reality is worse than any imagination. where I come from, bombs explode every day, but I have never seen anything like it, and I never thought I will. I must say, this all disturbs me, but the thing that I think disturbs me the most is that it is considered so unreal. I have though that somthing like this would happen for years. We americans attack everyone else, or intrude in there domestic or religious dealings, though still expect not to suffer ant consiquenses. I guess we played with the dogs long enough that they decided to bite at us... I hope all of the people that are part of our comunity here are OK, and that is extended to there famalies, as well. i'm from yugoslavia and was in belgrad during the shelling two years ago, and i know exactly how do americans feel right now, and believe me, it's UNREAL. unreal as it was then, and now is the same feeling... horrible... after some weeks one get used to it, but until then...

I'm scared to once more see what mankind is able to do. This truely is not human. Love and all the best thoughts to all the people suffering. some things time does not heal.

I'm in the Washington, D.C. area and work in a government building, right across the river from the Pentagon. I had just gotten to work when word came through that the Pentagon had been attacked. That clinched it for me. I told everyone on my team to pack up and leave. From my 6th floor window I could see people streaming out of other buildings; it was madness. The commuter trains and part of the subway system were closed, leaving people stranded. Eventually the subway opened up again and I was able to get home after a few hours. September 11, 2001...a date that will live in infamy.

I too, wish to express my sympaty for the loss of life we have suffered today. I am at a loss for words, and in total shock and disbelief. I know there is nothing to say to comfort those familes that have lost loved ones in this tragedy. I can only offer my prayers, and thank God for all the people working to try and save as many people as they can, and maybe losing their own lives in the process. Proud to be an American!

I have been listening to jet aircraft all day here in Anchorage... then to realise that every single one of those craft are military. Bless our protectors, bless our healers, and please keep us all in your hearts.

My ex-husband's and his parents, who were Austrian, used to tell me that if terrible tragedy struck in America, we would turn and rend each other like beasts because we are uncaring people. To say the least, they didn't understand Americans. i am so delighted to be able to point at the tremendous and heroic GOOD being done in the face of tragedy, and to say that they were totally wrong. Here are some of the beautiful and positive memorials to those who lost their lives today, seen on TV and heard on the 'Net: off duty policemen running into the second collapsing WTC to rescue people he heard in the rubble of the first WTC building to collapse. The incredible selflessness and calm organization of the hospitals in New York and Arlington. The hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people here near D.C. and in NYC lining up to give blood on the instant it was called for. People hereabouts opening their homes to acquaintances who couldn't get home because of the terrible traffic jams in evacuating Washington, D.C. i hear and see a large and generous spirit rising up to help our fellows in distress, and band together in time of crisis. There have been NO riots or fearful mobs. People have gotten their jobs done and gone out of their way to help out where they could. i have heard that foreigners sometimes find Americans to be chaotic, selfish, and too-logical or unfeeling in our dealings. This is not really true, just sad cultural misunderstandings. How could it be, when we are bleeding and angry, and yet still concerned here about our own retaliatory and racist acts, and harming innocents of other nations? It is a dangerous time, this aftermath, but remembering that we are good people will help us keep it together. My deepest thanks, also, to all those from other nations who have expressed your love and sympathy. You have great hearts, and may God reward you in kind. Nan

I am still in shock. I find it extremely hard to do anything but sit and watch my television continuing in shock. This is a very sad time not only for America but also for our world. But what is frightening is we don't know who did this or why. If we knew why rather than who did this we might be able to do something to make this a happy world for all to live in peace. But if it is someone who is trying to stir the pot of peace and create a world war and we know who it is. They must be removed from the face of this earth along with their cohorts. I live in Australia. I have met Americans here in Australia and I have found them to be kind and caring people. How could anyone perpetrate such an evil act on what are kind, caring innocent people? My heart and tears go out to the American people and the families who have lost loved ones. I also pray a loving peaceful journey for those who are now entering the gates of heaven. God Bless...
