Subject: Vue 9.5inf and Poser 9 question

melikia ( ) posted Sat, 10 November 2012 at 11:40 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 6:24 PM

Hey all,

I have no internet at home, am at a friends using internet, so am HOPING i can have an answer before I have to leave today.

I have Vue 9.5 infinite, and it worked beautifully with Poser 7, but I just got Poser 9, and I pointed Vue at it - and it won't import ANYTHING from Poser.  It's like Poser 9 doesn't exist.  I've tried every single umm... cant think of the word, but like the "march sdk" thing (sorry, dont have vue on this laptop, so can't peek and see)

PLEASe help.... I want to be able to use Poser 9 to set up my scenes for import into Vue.... I have abig project in the works, and I really don't want to return to Poser 7 for this - i JUST got used to the awesome "favorites" thing in poser 9....

I don't think Vue 9.5 has a Poser 9 SDK importer?  I know Vue 10 got updated recently for Poser 9 though.

Ok, i used the May 2010 one... it didn't work.

i backed up and used the prior one (march 2010) - and got more info on it not working (including it telling me to contact smith micro... sighs)... but still nothing.

i keep my geometries and textures in the main poser runtime folder...

this is frustrating LOL

You have to export from Poser as OBJ and then apply the skin maps manually in Vue.  Have you tried exporting as Collada to see if Vue would do something with that format?

havent tried the collada format yet...

i did import a "simple" figure from Poser 9 that I had saved as an OBJ - textures came in nicely... i think, was a few days ago... and my memory is kinda fuzzy - i may have had to search for one of the textures, but i really cannot remember.  I was just hoping to be able to import entire scenes without having to go through the "export as obj, import obj" thing - and the possible lack of textures importing properly LOL.

will try collada when i return home... see how that handles.

You can run the scene collect script. Try this:
Open your scene in Poser9, in Scripts menu open ->utility ->collect scene inventory; copy the files to a new folder and load the scene into Vue.

OOOOo... i forgot about that LOL.  Thank you =D

I'll try that, too...

I may end up going back to Vue 7i for this project, i know it won't see poser 9 (probably), but at least it didnt drain memory half as bad.  BLAH.

Be careful using 7.  Poser was broken in Vue 7.1 to 7.4.

Strange, i never had a problem with vue 7 & poser 7 lol. But the workaround of saving the scene inventory stuff worked, so its all good now :). Thank you all!!!!
