Subject: Your best so-far.

GARAGELAND ( ) posted Sun, 25 November 2012 at 5:41 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 12:50 PM

I was showing a few friends my gallery last night and was asked to pick what I thought was my best upload.

Its quite interesting how others judge your work and pick something which you consider to be o.k but not your best. I was quite suprised at some of their choices.

Anyway I would like to start the ball rolling. Here is what I think is my best so-far.

Please post what you consider your best work.

Have a nice sunday.

Ah Juliette, this is exactly what I mean, although this is  fantastic I would not consider this your best.

Thanx for taking part in this.

Wow, that's a hard question. I've shot so many pictures in so many different categories.

The hardest thing for me are portraits. I don't shoot them very often (I should challenge myself more), but I was very pleased with this one:

Old Man

I shot this one on vacation in Cuba. I have so many others I really like in other categories it's just too hard to point at one and say: "That's my best one".

thanx Garageland.. A surprising choice you made.... I would'nt even have considered that one, but maybe it is because I think I am not good with birds

thanx !

3DGuy - I really like this idea! Thanks for starting this thread.

As soon as I have a moment, I will go hunt down my personal 'best' or favourite shot.

Garageland, I agree with your basic premise - some photos I posted that I thought were marginal were very well received, while others that I thought were among my best got very little attention. Picking one favorite photo is like trying to decide which of your children you love the best - an impossible task. But to play along, this is one that I am most proud of.

Meisiekind ( ) posted Sun, 25 November 2012 at 11:13 AM

photosynthesis - you live on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world and yes - this is definitely an image to be proud of. I would rate it amongst your Top 10!

@camera: I love the natural lighting in this one. Am I correct in assuming this was shot on film?

@meisiekind: I was not the topicstarter, GARAGELAND started this, so the kudos go to him

3DGuy  You are correct. I used Kodak Ektacolor film.

"Your best" is hard to define. What is good, what is better, and who's to decide? Maybe the photographer is not the ideal person to judge his own work.

Anyway, this has been my most "successful" image 'till now. And that surprised even me...

I like it. Makes me wonder what that is. Bubbles between 2 panes of glass?

It's simpler than that; just a surface shot of drops of kitchen oil in a pot of water.
