I wondered if Has anyone used Singular Inversions FaceGen with Poser? Can you import Daz V3 heads in to do the morphs and have them work in Poser? Cheerio lululee

Some of their technology was incorporated into Poser 5 for the P5 figures.

Ah - if only...

I've had a look at the trial version. The sheer variety of the morphs and the intuitive interface make this a very special piece of kit. However, in the basic FaceGen package, you're restricted to the head mesh supplied with the program.

As I understand it, you can pay SI to adapt their software to your own projects, but it's a long, complex and expensive process.

On the other hand, SI (I think) provided the Face Room controls in P5. Maybe in the future...?

I might be wrong, but I think with two pieces of their software you can create your own faces with any model ... you would need Modeler AND Customizer.

BUT, and here is the big BUT, I don't think you would be able to distribute them. So you'd be buying $1000 worth of software to use them only in your own art and animations.

One person who might know all of the answers to this is Zarabanda ... he has some FaceGen work in his galleries, I believe (WonderWoman2004 and Seven of Nine). He might be able to tell us the scoop.

hey peeps :) Thanks for the interest in my work. FaceGen is an amazing program, particularly the PhotoFit tool which IMHO produces the most impressive digital clones out there short of building head meshes from scratch. That said, FaceGen has many drawbacks. It doesn't "handshake" well with poser at all. You can only work with the FaceGen head mesh, no import capabilities. When you export the .obj head mesh, fitting it onto a poser figure is a nightmare. It's a messy hack and slash frankensteining job to get the facegen head onto a poser figure. CeeBee has done this quite masterfully and I'm honored to have worked with her. I recommend everbody visit my gallery and past forum posts for pics using FaceGen. And also check out the yahoo group dedicated to this subject for plenty of discussion and cloning pics. Feel free to reply here, IM me or email bricesylvania@yahoo.com with any questions or comments. :)

Zarabanda, is that also true of FaceGen Customizer? It looks as though you need it and FaceGen Modeler to work with your own (ie: non-FaceGen) meshes. However, it also looks as though you can't distribute the results. Am I correct in assuming that?

Yes good question Arty, will it work with Customizer zarabanda?

With the FaceGen demo, and it's Daz Exporter demo, I've been running some test run. In fact, I installed DSON and Genesis just to do this.

Here's one of Yvonne Strahovski (on shows Chuck and Dexter)
