Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 13 7:49 pm)
Lee, I've seen a few dresses or skirts that have them. If you are lucky there might be bones to control the skirt... those seem to be a little more common. I don't think we see more because you'd actually have to create a morph yourself. Make a mirror of it if it's a L/R morph, etc.

Quote - The best way around it (if you know your way around a modeler and the setup room) is to make the skirt dynamic if you can. I don't understand why clothes aren't hybrid now if there's a skirt.
Laurie
I agree, even if it need a lot of adjustements and tweaks.

Many (not all) can be treated as hybrid. If they are double sided or have decorations (buttons etc) they can not. The DAZ MFD is a good example of one that works well.
You can go to the cloth room, select the skirt part (hip) and clothify it. Then the limits are what the cloth room can do.

I also agree that hybrid is the logical approach but after all these years … I don't think its going to happen anytime soon - not until the dynamics process is made more accessible, perhaps getting away from the animation methphor entirely. Folks can argue that its easy enough already but the uptake seems to suggest otherwise to me at least. Poser's dynamic cloth gives you tremendous flexibility to 'clothify' just about anything. DS, from what little I've read, sounds simpler but loses the flexibiility. People rave about Marvelous Designer. It would be nice to have the best of all of them in one package, ah well.

Does daz studio do dynamic cloth now? I mean is it set up so that anyone can make dynamic clothing? I thought there was that propriety software that they weren't sharing needed. If that is still the case, I would imagine that would be a big part of the reason hybrids still haven't caught on.

Not that I'm aware of, but I haven't looked in some time. It always sounded like a problem with licensing vis a vis the company that they got the tech from but don't by any means take that as gospel :-) I wouldn't think their issues would effect Poser though - the two technologies were never compatible. I suppose there might be some reluctance on the part of somePoser content makers to do dynamic because it wouldn't work in DS, but I wouldn't think that much - who knows. * *

I think the suggestion about adding a magnet or two wasn't a reference to the DAZ magnetize things, but actually adding a magnet to the dress. The cloth room option sounds nice. Is there a tutorial here that shows how to turn a regular dress into a hybrid? I think I'll go have a look! Ooops, instructions above. Thanks! :)
Optitex is so proud of their software, they make you request the pricing. I don't remember how much it is, but seem to remember, 3ds is cheaper. AFAIK, dynamic cloth for DS is still a single supplier. Not many choices, although what is available is free. I have no idea why DAZ went with Optitex, but so far, I've seen so little to interest me that it really doesn't matter to me. The single source is going to be the hamstring to DAZ, probably as long as they stick with it.
I'll have to say, there is so little conforming that I use, it wouldn't bother me not to have it as long as dynamic is available and works as well as it does. Hybrid, where skirts are involved works far better than conforming, doesn't matter how many morphs are built into the skirt, it can't match the dynamic.

Well with limiting ds to conforming only, I'm sure that's a big part of the reason why dynamic clothing hasn't taken off better. I mean most clothing is made for V4 so why cut your user base in half (or whatever the persent might be). The other reason of course is the "make art" additude that it takes so much more effort to set up the dynamic simulation.

The sad part is if you're after a "quick and dirty", about all you have to do is set body parts for collision, or if you're being really lazy, just click on "Body" and select everything. It's when you get picky that you spend time with it. "Quick and Dirty" will usually be more satisfactory than trying to make conforming work.

Quote - GoZ does not solve the problem of no morphs. It is easier to run a sim for the pose you want, and if you really want to save it, export, and bring it back in as a morph on the original item.

Have any of you noticed the amount of dresses for V4 that have absolutely no skirt movement morphs - just the standard big or little boobs etc. morphs? I can not put Vicky in any decent poses except the reset pose or I have skirts going every which way and no way to fix it. We need front forward. Sides out, back out etc. and a little wind morphs would be great. I purchased Mirror Mirror and again, no movement morps. Same goes for many others. Am I doing something wrong? I do magnetize with no result. I hate this problem.
