Subject: what can cause this?

just getting back into this put it aside awhile, in the scene everyones hair renders except Mr. Barkley's, yet the hair shows it has nodes for transmapping and textures....

I started giving some advice about checking the texture nodes to make sure they are pointing to hair textures that really exist in your library... but then I noticed your joining date!

Are the normals backwards on the hair? I ran into that before.

Those are great likenesses btw! If you are using IDL and there is an ambient setting on the hair-it might glow like that.

barkley toupee got some channel activated other than diffuse + specular < 1.0, unless IDL activated IMVHO.

Looks to me like there might be an untextured duplicate of the hair geometry - unless it's just the top of his head that's rendering as poke-though.
