Subject: Timing for the next Poser?

3doutlaw ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 1:33 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 4:34 AM

Is there any news on a next version of Poser?  Lookin' at the history (link), and unless it's gonna be one of those 3 year gaps...shouldn't it be getting close?

vilters ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 1:42 PM

Depends on how many days you have in your year. :-)

But Poser9/PP2012 is out from september 2011, so around one year and some taxes ago.

End 2013 - End 2014 would be a good initial guess. :-)

Happy Posering.

Yea, Poser Pro 2010 to Poser Pro 2012 was 1 year 6 months, so given its been 1 year 3 months...just wondering if there was something on the horizon?  Windows 8 out now, perhaps there is some optimization needed?

cedarwolf ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 2:11 PM

Still can't afford any of the newer versions, but it's entertaining to watch the comments from those who can.  Poser 7 is confusing enough for dabblers such as myself...but some of the newer toys look interesting.

LaurieA ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 2:14 PM · edited Tue, 18 December 2012 at 2:14 PM

I'm not sure if it's gonna be soon, but I'm certain it's being worked on. LOL.

I have no inside info btw - it's just an educated guess. Heh.

Poser Pro 2014, presumably?

I reckon it's going to have a new "Chest Room"... he he ;-)

monkeycloud ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 2:27 PM

...sorry... and a "Foot Room" for Laurie ;-)

WoolyLoach ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 2:33 PM

Yeah, there's no point on working on the next release if the world is going to end!

I bet the next version comes out right after I finally come to grips with PPro 2012.  That seems par for the course...

What... the world's going to end? Nobody told me! Where are all the parties happening? ;-)

Not at Laurie's house, obviously...  ;-)

Nope...lol. Of course, if any drops by I'll make pancakes...

monkeycloud ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 2:39 PM

Ah, a quick Google search revealed why I missed this.

Instead of the usual Ancient Mayan Calendar, I was given a calendar with pictures of cute dogs on it, last Christmas.

This does have some local and not so local holidays marked on it.

But not that all important "End of the World" event...

Oh yeah... now that's a party ;-)

...and I'm not totally sure what Hotcakes are either... he he.

EDIT: Ah, according to Google images they look pretty yummy though..

LaurieA ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 3:03 PM

Pancakes, flapjacks, griddlecakes and hotcakes are all the same thing. LOL

Laurie

monkeycloud ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 3:10 PM

Ah, see in Scotland (UK generally) a flapjack is a different thing altogether...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/flapjacks

...that threw me off initially. But I thought those hotcakes looked familiar. He he...

Just realised that Poser Pro 2012 was released on my birthday, 2011. So I'm thinking that Poser Pro 2014 being released on my birthday 2013 would work pretty well for me...

Thinkcoop, you listening? How's the schedule going? ;-)

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 3:20 PM

according to the chart on mickopedia :

PP2010 - 03/10/2010

PP2012 - 09/21/2011

thus by extrapolating these two figures:

PP2014 - 04/01/2013

no doubt kupa will be eager to confirm or deny.  at least there's no news of anybody trying to buy poser from SM.

I'll be trying to buy it Miss Nancy...

...I'm saving up already ;-)

Oh wait, you mean...

...ah, well, short of that lottery win tonight... would £69 million UK be enough?

I haven't had an email... I don't think I've won.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2012 at 3:30 PM

perhaps those funds of my long-lost cousin being held in a nigerian bank would suffice.  I'm awaiting the email, but there has been a dearth of them lately. :crying:

I'll make a coffee cake then...won't last long ;).

I'd prefer waffles. Belgian, preferably, but plain ol' waffles with whipped cream and strawberries would do in a pinch.

Any cake that only exists long enough for the baker to eat it, might as well be a lie :)

If you guys are refering to the Mayan Calender and the end of the world, you have it all wrong.

Near the end of December you just go down to the Mayan Mall and get yourself another Mayan Calander, problem solved.

:-)

I prefer a better Ppro2012 with a real update of the render engine, sr4 may be, instead a new version of poser with the same bugs at start.

Lol, cautious bet there Laurie.

Course, there is always the possibility of a rogue asteroid, super volcano eruption, global pandemics etc. Better to be realistic eh.

Have a happy Christmas all!

So with all this OT about the end of world, cake and flapjacks, does anyone think coop will stop in and give us a little roadmap insight?  (...or perhaps the breast thread is more enticing)

vilters ( ) posted Wed, 19 December 2012 at 7:31 AM

I know the solution.

Goto Google Earth.

Zoom in on the Poser Team building.

See what they are doing?

And then post here about what you see :-)

Or?? Send a drone? :-)

According to my calendar the world will end on the 31st of December........well unless someone gives me a 2013 calendar for Christmas.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.
