Thought I would put up a pic of the interior I'm working to finish up.

Poser 2012 all indirect lights, front, rear, and top or sky emitter panels.

Specular only light pointing down the hallway

Looks like it's coming along really well.

Looks good but check whether the number of steps of the stair is consistent with the floor height, and whether the height of the balustrade floor is consistent with structural requirements. At a floor-to-ceiling height of 2.70 m you usually see 13 steps from floor to floor. Public spaces like this cafe may have more, but the image suggests too many steps here for a normal stair.

Except in DIY projecs, floor tiles are not normally laid so that one 'native' edge runs along the wall. The tiles usually are laid from a reference in the centre of the room so that there can be a good fit at the wall.

Otherwise I really like the scene.

Looks really nice. Do you plan to add feed cables to the neon light and chains of lights?

Many of the existing buildings in the Vieux Carre New Orleans were built in the 1830's this particular structure is from 1836. Most structures in this area had 12-14 foot ceilings primarily to allow heat to rise high above the living space. 20 to 21 risers for a 12 foot ceiling is about right.

...

Well, if the situation in that area is like that, so be it modelled.

I looked at the image from a european perspective and the ratio just struck me.

I like it, but it it going to be compatible with earlier versions of Poser?  I have Poser 7 and would like to use this if it comes to fruition.

The neon signs and indirect lighting panels would load ok in P7 they just wouldnt lightup like they would in P9 or 2012. I believe I'm correct in saying this!

Should be in the marketplace in a few weeks, most of the work is done!

Some of my textures are 8192x8192 can P7 handle that?

The brick walls for instance are that big so that they retain detail

I think P7 would handle thos sizes, Chris.  It may be up to the RAM and processor speeds.  Love to find out!

Looks good!

Probably do a 4096px texture map setting as well ("high res" and "super high res").

Interesting you ask because the route to this project was rather convoluted. I've been working for about 3 years now on modeling a portion of the French Quarter. I was working on a building that usually has all of its doors open so the bar area is clearly visable from the street. I was making liquor bottles for the bar and they turned out so well I thought I would sell them by themselves. But glass bottles and refraction are totally dependent on the enviroment in which they are placed to look right, so I thought I could finish this interior scene to go with the bottles faster that I can have the other parts ready for sale. So this interior is imaginary but based on other actual buildings. Its "kit bashed" from other buildings.

This is the building that I was making the Bar stuff for!

That looks really great! You've done a great job.

I have always loved the architecture in NOLA.

Love that building.  Will it ever be available?  I also love the private courtyard homes in the Quarter.  That would be a challenge, indeed.

chris1972 ( ) posted Sun, 30 December 2012 at 8:56 PM

Thanks, I'm working to get several out by early to mid spring. I work very slow and methodical. I often re-due things several times before I'm satisfied with the results so I tend to be rather slow. Its coming out with streets, sidewalks, street signage, street lamps, fire hydrants etc. I try to re-create the feeling of the place.

Is that Cafe du Monde with the green trim at the top of the image?

chris1972 ( ) posted Mon, 31 December 2012 at 10:57 AM

The intersection is Bourbon at St. Louis your looking NNE. Many of those Places have changed names since the Hurricane, its now The "Big Easy" on the first floor and "Cajin Cabin" balconie dinning on the second. You can Google earth street view it and see it very well.

grichter ( ) posted Mon, 31 December 2012 at 2:48 PM

Get it done in time for Mardi Gras so Vicki and Mike can party down!

Looks really really good.
