Subject: Looking for Crayons

I am running Poser 7 and the green crayon color is missing some nodes , and therefore turns out black. I fixed it by just setting diffuse and specular to the color I want. It may not look as good as a node setup for pro 2012 but it works.

I have made a little box to hold the crayons. It will hold 8 in two rows of 4.

UV mapped but no textures.

Hehe...I was gonna do a box of 24 :P. Still might, but thanks! Smaller box, less crayons to render ;). Making crayon colors in those cough crayon colors we all loved from childhood. Hehe.

Also, sorry about the nodes. Made the prop for Poser 9 and included a Poser 8 shader but that's it ;).

Not a problem. I assumed the missing nodes (if they are missing) were something new to Poser 8 or above.

The crayon is a nice model. Thanks.

Waaaaaa I want one of those boxes that holds 96 crayons.

When I was growing up the 96 pack had crayon sharpener in the front of the box. Kids today don't know what they are missing!

Thanks everybody.

Wondering out loud...how long do you think it would take BB to create shaders that matched all 96 colors

Oh, I used to get the 120 count box ;). I think THAT was the one with the sharpener. LOL And I'm working on colors right now. Sorry, but my colors won't have gobs of nodes ;). I keep em simple. LOL

I'm doing 120 tops. And I'm not even sure I'm gonna get that far. Ya might get 64 if you're REALLY lucky. LOL

Someone else can fill in the rest. ;)

grichter ( ) posted Wed, 02 January 2013 at 1:59 AM

Markschum's box only holds 8 :)

hmmm, my crayon is black also, not green and my diffuse is set to 1.0?  what am I doing wrong?  Using Poser 8

SAMS3D ( ) posted Wed, 02 January 2013 at 6:13 AM

looks like my crayon was sitting in a shadow and that was the issue, so never mind.  LOL, thank you again for the freebies.  Sharen

I've always loved periwinkle cause I thought it was so funny to say :)  Thank you for the crayon and box.   Now we need a Poser colouring book, is there a python script that will render just outlines or should we do it in post?

estherau ( ) posted Wed, 02 January 2013 at 8:20 AM

Steele, that is a beautiful thought to do that sort of picture and I think it is a good idea.  I can't even think about it without cryiing, let alone render anything to do with that subject.  Good on you.

Love esther

Stilll in the B colors folks....by the time I make the shaders, get them rendered for thumbs, make the thumbs, replace the thumbs and package them it'll be a day or two. If ya have patience, I'll have every color made ;). I know you'll never use the half of them, but I'm working to make them all...lol.

BTW, periwinkle blue and the dark purple were my faves as a kid ;).

Back to work...

Yikes the front row is 24 wide and there are 5 rows in the image or 120 total different colors. The time it took to create all those colors I can understand why you are staring to hate Crayons.

Any more and you are going to need a "Cray"-on computer to process them all.

Fantastic job and I would have given up at 24 or 36. But 120...A hero's job you have done.

Laurie....tech has taken out your efforts...👎

I am at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas and Griffen released an electronic Crayon to work on tablets, where it appears you dial the Crayon to change the color on the fly.

Need to to start a petition to save "The Colored Wax!" :thumbupboth:

They need to start making crayons in fruit flavors with edible wax. After all how many little kids eat them ?

High tech electic crayon is just wrong. Next thy will have finger paints in Photoshop.. oh wait ..
