Subject: Miss Renderosity 2013

I was just thinking, why doesn't rendo have a "beauty contest" of sorts featuring some of the top selling female characters of the year (or the pervious one).  Take the 16 (or 24 or 32) top sellers, let them eliminate one another in a standard braket.

Just to make it extra intersting, all voting would be done via a new image just for the contest (and the vendors can use their favorite artist if that person wants to).  Perhaps a freebie prop set that everyone has to use could be released for it as well.

WARK!

Rendo's not gonna do that...lol.

For one, it'd be pitting vendors against each other no matter how ya slice it. And vendors who's product may very well still be in the store.

I don't see Rendo doing something like that - something that might reflect negatively on a vendor's sales, especially if someone could possibly construe a losing product not worth buying. I don't see it happenin. I guess I should say if it were up to me it would never happen. LOL

Characters of the past year eliminates me...  Perhaps just characters available from Rendo.  (I am sure they don't mind you buying an old or new character)  I don't have any new characters...you get to the point where youneed to say, "I got enough characters, fo goodness sake"  ;-)

You could have...evening gown, portrait and swimsuit for each entry.

Talent?  ...meh  :)

Huh?  Couldn't every render contest be considered pitting vendor products versus another...?  A good artist can make just about any vendor product look awesome.

Laurie, what about the gravy bowl because that's what I was basing it on?  That pits vendors against each other.

Yeah, it is, where voting is involved on products. If it was a general contest where ANY Rendo product can be used and the votes are for the image and not the product, then no.

However, ain't up to me ;). Maybe that's a good thing. Of course, if it were for the second, then I'd be all for it :P But I don't think it should be for a certain selection or type of product.

Oh...you meant a sale thing.

I thought you meant a "contest" for renders from users.  My bad...  Oh well, I still like the idea of a "Miss Poser" render contest.  :)

Me too, if what gets rendered is up to the person doing the rendering and not from a "list" of products ;).

I figured Miss Poser would be better, since I think anyone using Cycles, Lux or Octane for the render would have an unfair advantage  ;-)

Hey, I like that idea. Let's have a Miss Poser contest for all the female posters on Rendo Poser forum. And just so we won't be sexist, let's do one for the guys too.

I nominate Laurie A and Glitteratti 3D.

Let us have a Miss - Mister Poser contest.

You have to use the Poser 1 female or Poser 1 male figure.

Poser 1 figures would be more of a 'Best reconstructive surgery after a near fatal car crash contest.' Still, I remember a digital beauty contest some years ago, though IIRC maybe they had to be original figures. I think Taschen had a whole book on digital beauties. Sounds like a fun idea, if it wouldn't turn into a cockfight amongst the audience :-)

Why restrict it to 1 NITWAS render?

Make it a set of calendars. With the cover of the calendar you get a bakers dozen or 13 renders :thumbupboth:

Add :  For each month, one has to use a different native Poser figure. :-)

Including the cover, a competitor would use at least 13 different native Poser figures.

Maybe if we had a peek into the future of Poser X or Poser 2014 , SM themselves could sponsor a comp based around any new developments and showcase the improvements since day 1, heck they could even give the older versions of Poser away for free to allow people to use them for entries , thank goodness they aren't called Smith and Micro, I think the Miss S&M section might get coverage they would regret heeeheehee

I like the idea of the calendar one too. It would be fun to see what people can do with the various poser people. Would it be required to use only the original poser people or would people be allowed to use 3rd party figure (ie v4, my michelle etc) and what about others from smith micro like Miki?

1.) To work either Renderosity or SmithMicro would have to sanction (which doubt would ever happen, even it is a novel concept)

2.) Create some categories and if done by Renderosity, make it wide open to any software, which includes any characters, props or figures. If sanctioned by SM, that is a different kettle of fish that I think it is beyond our pay grade to determine what the limitations should be. But they do make plugins to import and render Poser figures and props in other software.

Simple. If you want a calendar, use 12 different figures (that's different figures, not merely morphs or characters such as A4 > V4 etc). If Vilters wants to use the low poly ones, he's welcome to them. Nobody else needs to unless they want to. I suspect few will, but some like the challenge, I guess.

I don't think anyone is disputing Vilters' right or desire to use low poly figures, exactly in the same way that other folks want to use other figures. i think its purely academic in any event as i don't see any posts from Rendo or SM supporting such a contest and tbh i think the level of general interest would be pretty slim, most folks find it hard enough to create one great render, let alone 12  :bored:

I didn't get poser until Poser 5, IIRC, that came with p2, p4 and p5 figs, discounting the clothed/casual-business figures, even with the content of all 3 volumes i think it is under 13, so i 'm not exactly sure how you could render 13 different figs from P1 unless it came with more figs than later versions. Just me being contrary LOL

Vilters makes a good point.  We could pick the best of the winners from the calander to determine who is miss Rendo.  However for that to work, we'd probably only be able use characters/outfits/slutty poses/temples from the marketplace. I mean if this is going to be a Miss Rendo contest, that's only fair.

Not sure I understand the calendar idea - everyone make 12-13 renders? I thiink sponsor should create a calendar of the best 12 images. Maybe people might even buy a nice printed versio but it should have been done in time for 2013 - maybe start now for next year. I hinkmost calendars feature one of the months on the cover don't they so only 12 images perhaps. Not sure SM owns the rights to some of the earlier versions. IIRC that came up when someone wanted the P4 update & they said they didn't have it.

Play nice, no cockfights. Somehow, the ladies here never get into catfights where we can imagine the virtual pulling of hair, ripping of clothing, inadvertent grabbing of girly parts …
