Subject: Hair position changing with pose

Hi everyone,

I have been dealing with a very annoying little problem which I have been intending to bring up at the forum. With certain hairs, especially those that are not conforming, but attach directly to the figure, I get this thing where the hair position changes on the scalp with certain poses.

After spending all this time tweaking the hair to get it just right, I'll load up a new pose and suddenly the hair is rotated wildly in some different direction. I have to re-tweak it to get it right, only to have the hair get messed up again on the next pose.

The hair only seems to change on certain poses, and I can't figure out what it is about those particular poses that messes up the hair. Any insights would be most welcome.

That depends to what figure the hair originally was conformed to?
You can load the hair without a figure , save out the object file.
Import the object file again, and goto the setup room to rig it for the figurte you are using.

Or make a smart Prop hair from it with inherit bends checked ON.

Hi Vilters,

Actually the hair in question is one of the original Poser 6 Jesse hairs, and it seems to be parented to Vic when it is loaded. What I can't figure out is that it remains attached and bends with the figure for the vast majority of poses, but with certain ones the positioning gets reset to the default 00. Usually I have to adjust the position of the hair for the x,y, and z. For these poses, for some reason, the positioning is returned to zero.

Parenting is not an exact science, especially if the hair pieces from one model are used on a different model.  Vilters suggestions seem to be the best solutions for this issue.

Thanks, guys, I'll try your recommendations. Most of these issues are arising with some of the older Kozaburo (sp?) hairs and P6 and P7 ones....I was going back to some older work I had done.

Also, hair props positions get saved with the pose.  To avoid this, use 'Select Subset' and uncheck the hair prop - OR - save the pose both ways, with the box checked and unchecked and give the pose files unique names: figureH, figure.

You may use Select Subset to make other partial poses too ...
