Glad to hear you won the tribunal Sam, I did make the mistake of saying "Maybe it would be better if I came across as an illiterate northern git" only to found out the GP on the panel was from Oldham lol..............I love Tribunals, mine pointed me in the direction of private wheelchair purchase, so far I've applied for 29 jobs, but I've yet to find the one that involves moving an empty cardboard box at chest height from left to right whilst in a seated position, still, it must be out there somewhere.....

Right from the start, the tribunal folks seemed to be on my side.  They thanked me for having such good handwriting, which they said made their job a lot easier.  I think the whole process took around 30 minutes at most.

I've been offered a free, full, legit copy of Win 7 Ultimate by yet another kind and generous person here, so that's now taken care of, in addition to RAM, drives and graphics card.  I'm sure I can rustle up a DVD burner and whatever other bits I need

I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown here.  I can't thank you all enough.  So I won't. ;)  Seriously though, you have my sincere thanks and gratitude.  You people are amazing.  I really hope I can repay your generosity one day.

Needless to say, if I ever start selling things again, you guys are in for some major freebies.

I should get those components in the post to you later this week Paul, 4GB memory and the HDDs I was planning to send you on.

Just waiting for the 7-pass data wipe to complete on the HDDs... :)

There's a terrabyte's worth there for you (2 x 500GB SATA), provided those two HDDs test okay once the data wipe is done.

Should get a fair few more Daleks on that? He he ;-)

The wipe process itself will hopefully give them a good road test - they've been sitting for a year or so... used them in a RAID1 backup array for a year or so before that. Backups running incrementally via OS X Time Machine... so the I/O mileage shouldn't be too bad, I don't think...

Will do some S.M.A.R.T. diagnostics on them and double check they're okay before I despatch them.

Hopefully get them to you in plenty time to coincide with Glitterati3d's case, mainboard and CPU reaching you...

Please consider my contribution as gift in appreciation of all your existing Daleks :)

You're gonna have to get a newer version of Poser now to match that machine you'll be getting. LOL

I'll second that, after all the flame wars of the past year or so it is so good to see members of the community come together like this.  Having just retired and getting used to a deminished income (that and the fact I tend to give away and PC parts I have rather than have them lying around) I was unable to help in practical terms.  So a heartfelt thanks to all those that did.

May good fortune smile on everyone of you.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Tue, 22 January 2013 at 1:54 PM

Laurie - I have Poser 2012 Pro.  A very generous person (who has asked to remain nameless) bought it for me.  I couldn't get it to work on my old machine but it should do very nicely on the new one.  :)

I will be installing P6 for testing purposes, though.  Possibly rigging too, since I've heard there are a few problems (I refuse to use the word "issues" in this context) with rigging in P2012P.

hornet3d - I've always thought there are a large number of first class people here but, like any community there's bound to be friction now and again.  Everyone's human and nobody's perfect.

I'm immensely grateful to everyone, whether they could help or not, since everybody has shown an enormous amount of goodwill.  In any event, I wasn't expecting anything; my post was just a gripe, so all these wonderful gifts were a complete surprise.

As you say we are all human and I expect the odd flame war, particularly as it is very easy to mis-understand the written word on such forums.  I am just so happy that more positive human traits have come to the fore thanks many generous people.  I have read your posts on a regular basis and missed them, particularly the humor.  You have given a lot to the community and I am sure it pleases everyone here to see you get the help you deserve.

Sounds like Poser 2012 will fly on your new system, may it bring you great pleasure for a long, long time to come.

Well, I just made it along to the post office and my offering is on its way to you now, Paul :)

Took me longer than I'd hoped to get a free lunchtime to take the package along... but it should be with you by the weekend hopefully.

Fingers crossed the disks make it to you okay... I got them to slap a big fragile sticker on the parcel.

Any problems with those disks, I've got another one or two kicking about. But those two were the best ones... and twins.

Likewise the memory. That's not actually been used, in anything, in fact... from an abandoned project ;) It's just Komputerbay modules, but fully buffered, with heat spreaders. Should do the trick I think, as far as I could tell, with the CPU and m/board that Glitterati3d was going to send you.

But, if any issues with compatibility there, I can certainly see what else I've got kicking about in the workshop, shed, garage, etc...

Cheers ;)

It's like Christmas all over again.

It is taking me a little longer as well.  We just got moved in, but I took a very bad fall.  I tripped over a wheelchair access point at a store and face planted into the sidewalk.  Broke my nose, broke my hand, and my teeth went right through my bottom lip.  To say it hurts would be the understatement of the century.  Typing is a little tough.

But the mobo, case and processor will be on the way in the morning.

Oooh, ouch! Very sorry to hear that... sounds absolutely awful :(

Sending you best wishes for a speedy recovery... and hope you get some relief from the pain meantime...

Nice work on that dress I spotted of yours in the marketplace here, by the way... it looks great. Indeed it's been giving me some ideas for a scene... :)

Thanks, monkeycloud.  The pain was letting up a bit, then the dog headbutted me when I was trying to help her on the bed!  I saw stars.  Again.

Thanks for the comments on the dress.  I've got a fantasy outfit in the works, but it may be a while until I can get my hand a little better.  It's very nice shades of purple and blue, right now (the hand, I mean).

Just as the EMTs arrived, it started snowing and I thought, oh great, if I don't manage to kill myself, they'll finish me off on the way to the hospital.  Snow + Georgia is not a good combination.  But, I can't use that as an excuse - I was being a klutz.

LOL, the doctor assures me I will be.  Still pretty much living on pain pills and all food has to be through a straw, but I'm managing.  Thanks for asking.

Oh man... geezo... you've certainly been in the wars then! :-o

...yeah, my dog has head butted me before... jumping on to the bed as I was leaning down to pick something up off the floor. I saw stars... and a load of blood. He was very apologetic... although completely oblivious to the fact he'd rammed his skull into mine ;)

All I need now is the case, board and PSU from Glitterati.
