Subject: Where can I download free poser characters?

bigglobe ( ) posted Tue, 05 February 2013 at 4:45 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 12:22 PM

I am looking for Victoria, Michael, Apollo, Antonia and any other popular poser characters.

I use poser 8 and it doesn't have any of these characters. My poser has characters with the names Ben, James, Jessi, Kate, Ryan, and SimonG2WD.

I need to also have Victoria, Michael, Apollo, Antonia, and any other popular ones. The reason for this is that I cannot use many of the files that I downloaded because they are incompatible with the characters that I already have.

Is there anywhere I can download these poser characters for free?

antonia at rdna, think apollo still avail.  the rest you pay or dont play

bill

You used to be able to get the Daz gen 3 figures for free, Antonia is free, Apollo is free although there seems to be problems with the DL links (hope the creator didn't end the figures availability).

V4? a virtual money pit. Because she is the reigning queen of Poser figures as far as support goes it's probably worth the investment if you want to create the kind of imagery that haunts the Poserverse.

Antonia and Apollo(?) seem to be the great freebie couple.

http://www.sharecg.com/v/51383/gallery/11/Poser/Angela is a VERY nice free figure, though not a lot of support. See http://www.sharecg.com/AllenArt for some nice things for the figure.

...and others.

Sorry, you can find the freebies for Angela by AllenArt here on Renderosity Freestuff also...

I will post this because I believe it is a legitimate source.

http://download.cnet.com/Poser-DAZStudio-3D-Models-Pack/3000-6677_4-10579249.html

That link is to a figure bundle that Daz released for free after the 4th gen figures came out.

You can get aiko in one of the free bundles at Daz.

Note: The M3 and V3 figures would need the morphs ++ product to change body shapes.

Wardrobe wizard may be included with your version of Poser. If you have it you could convert clothing items for the Poser figures.

The contents of the download from cnet linked above for the Daz figs. I think it's some kind of cnet download application that you must install first?

At Daz you must now purchase something or be a platinum club member in order to download their free stuff. http://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models-and-content/anime-star-fighter

Also, tried downloading Apollo from the link to divshare on the apollo homepage... still not working. (I'm glad I already have the figure and etceteras, who knows?).

You do not need to purchase anything nor be a Platinum member to download free content from DAZ.  You just need to register (free).  I always download new, free content every Tuesday before the 'price' increase.  After a week, you will need to purchase.

hborre, I saw this and so naturally assumed there was some policy change at Daz... You're right though. I'm only a registered member and just downloaded a freebie with no purchase. ah,well. It is a little confusing, though.

Phew, I just signed back in to Daz3d after not visiting for a couple of weeks. I think I just signed away my soul, the largest Eula I have ever seen, needed agreeing to before I could even proceed to the site. If I correctly understood it, Daz now own my soul, my wifes soul, the souls of everyone I have ever talked to and probably a few I haven't spoke to yet.

and that's if I DON'T use any Daz Models, god help me if I do................lol

To avoid any potential issues, lets keep it to suggestions for the OP rather than a discussion on Daz.

Unfortunately the Apollo download links aren't working; if anyone personally knows Anton, please drop him a note regarding this, as he hasn't yet responded to mine...

If you buy this book  it comes with V4 and M4 Complete bundles, and Aiko 4 and Hiro 4. The book istelf is somewhat obsolete, but you might be able to find a used copy with the CD...

I tried the Apollo Max links on this website and they don't work. At first, I would click on download and the website would start counting how much I had to wait. When that time was up, it would start counting again and again. I decided to make an account on that website because I thought it would help. The counting stopped but I would get directed to the same page with no results.

...also definitely pick up the anime star fighter bundle freebie at Daz if you are interested in Aiko 3.

Nobody seems to know what is going on with Apollo at the moment.

bigglobe ( ) posted Thu, 07 February 2013 at 9:45 PM

I was only able to download Angela and Antonia.

At first, I thought Angela wasn't going to work because my poser kept freezing when I would upload her and undo deleting her. She eventually unfreezes after a little while. Angela is a beautifully made character and I wouldn't mind working with her.

Antonia does not upload to my poser. I downloaded 4 .cr2 files for this character. None of them work when I double click on them in my poser library.

I use a Mac and Poser 8. Maybe this is making some of the files incompatible.

There are different poser characters which may be possible to download, but I am mostly looking for the main ones, particularly Victoria and Michael. Antonia and Apollo would also be useful. I have so many poses for these characters, especially the first two, so I am really going to try to get them.

Bad news, you are probably thinking of victoria 4 and michael 4 which are impossible(?) to find as freebies. Register at Daz and purchase those figures if the content you have is intended for V4/M4. The good news is that both of these figures have a ton of content graciously crafted and offered to the poser community as free items!

After you have registered as a member at Daz you can download the Anime star fighter/A3 bundle at http://www.daz3d.com/anime-star-fighter. Make sure to download the .zip-mac files from your account page.

Also, make sure that you download the non-weight mapped version of Antonia, as Antonia WM will not work properly in Poser 8. Antonia standard is 100% mac compatible so I'm not sure why you are having issues with the figure?

FWIW bigglobe, there are some new videos at Content Paradise's YouTube page that show you how to install Poser and how to install content. Might be worth a look.

Weird, or maybe not so weird... I'm certainly glad I have most of Apollo's freebies and some of the really nice purchased things. Apollo is still a favorite, and anton is still a favorite Poser artist.

If Apollo is indeed Gone, It's kinda like an old friend passing away somehow...

bigglobe, not a direct answer to your question, but in the Poserverse at least, what you are calling "characters" are actually "figures." "Characters" are morphs and/or texture sets that adapt the look of a base figure.

So, e.g. V4 is one figure, but there are thousands of characters available for her.

Just a tip to help people use common terms... makes for better understanding of what's needed (although of course in this case your specific examples made clear you were talking about figures rather than characters).

From reading older posts, there were disagreements between some 'rosity people, and with Anton. The creator left here, evidently dissapointed.

In general, when one sees limited time offers for characters, download now, load later. Have seen several items that were wanted, but cannot be downloaded now (August hair come to mind.)

Wow - that's interesting about Anton.  I sure hope he's doing well and enjoying life.

I don't know him but I bought Apollo way back when it was a commercial product. I communicated with Anton back in the days after Apollo became free, when the CP forums were alive and there was a great section for Apollo that Anton was very active in. I've also sent a message on his facebook page, though just to the "other" mailbox.  I hope someone who does know him will see this and contact him to see if he'd be willing to fix or replace the links or allow someone to host Apollo so new 3d artists can also enjoy him, as the files can not be redistributed.

I'll offer another suggestion if you're really trying to get hold of him. If you can't contact him directly on-line, maybe you can contact someone he knows (or works with) and ask them to relay the message. You seem to know where he works. Or, send him a letter via snail mail.
