Subject: A GUI to view Poser Characters ??

Gilles38 ( ) posted Sat, 09 February 2013 at 11:49 AM · edited Mon, 10 February 2025 at 9:26 AM

Hi all,

Is there any GUI that can view Poser Characters in 3D (just view not modify) written in Python for instance ??

I am a yoga teacher and would like to  show yoga poses to students. Ideally, it would allow me to add comments. See the small video I made to get an idea of what I'd like.

Thanks.

the only 3 viewers I know of read the obj file but not the cr2, poser character format as in the one sharecg uses as an option for 3d model uploads .similar to this one http://www.tucows.com/preview/605254/3D-Model-Viewer

I guess you could pose the character, export it as an obj in its posed position and then view it in the viewer.

But if you have poser, I'd just make a small animation of the pose and loop it, for example just rotate the posed character at the last frame, and then render a preview animation. You can add comments to it in a simple movie editor by using the subtitle or title options

Perhaps you could pose the character in the various yoga positions and make some simple renders  and import the image  files into a MS powerpoint presentation
where you could add comments.??

P3DOExplorer can preview many Poser files and OBJ also. If you need to change poses use DAZStudio that is free. If you use Android theres a pose app that is very good and simple to setup poses.

Hi all,

Thank you for your answers.

All your ideas are possible but not flexible.

Editing an animation from Poser or DAZ in a movie editor or PowerPoint is not suitable as I want to add many comments next to body parts( legs, head etc...).

P3DExplorer is for Windows and I am on Mac...

I just want to mention one viewer that does read .OBJ and run on multiplatforms:

GLC-player . Really cool with a kind of P3DExplorer-like function (called albums) but can't add any comments or symbols, too bad

Cheers

I don't know if this as a possible solution and I haven't tried it.

3DNP - It uses still images so you can render stills or grab frames from an animation. You should be able to annotate the images with comments etc. It is supposed to work in any browser.

"3DNP is a JavaScript, that preloads a series of images into memory and simulates a 3D view by  analysing the user's mouse movement and quickly swapping the images."  http://www.thoro.de/page/3dnp-introduction-en
