I do a lot of infrared photos, but my interest is really B/W with infrared as part of that. This morning had a wonderful Fallish sun creating shadows, reflections and translucency in a lot of plants/leaves. The 3 here were shot in color, processed in B/W by various means (I also use duotones a lot). I use a Canon G1 at present but plan to purchase an Olympus E-10/20 (the only digital SLR that will be within my range for the near future--and the fixed lens will be within bout 95% of my shooting anyhow). I haven't invited anyone to my galleries for quite a long time, so if you are interested in primarily B/W and infrared, love to have you look at them. http://www.pbase.com/picnic/galleries Diane/picnic

Small world--I got several--they are interesting in color also, but I particularly like the pattern, shadows, etc.--of the B/W

Black and white forever baby! The drama in b&w photography is what makes it draw people in so much. The first is my fave, even though I normally find flower pics icky. ry

slynky, you might enjoy this photographer also if you haven't seen his work (along the lines of Uelsmann). Also, there is a magazine devoted to B/W photography that I like a lot B & W Black and White Magazine, Box 700, Arroyo Grande, CA 93421. I'm able to find this at Barnes and Noble bookstores here. I like the spider web picnic, I could just sit and marvel at the details of a web for hours.

I agree with Alpha... The "2nd b/w image" is so serene, beautiful, and abstract at the same time...

Spiders web really is cool. I was out this morning looking for our cat (looks like he's took a wander even though our neighbour was looking after him...) and I saw a wasp fly into a web...stood watching for a minute or so, and just as the spider started making it's way across to see what was for lunch, the wasp got free. Didn't have me flippin' camera, though, did I??? That'll teach me....

Jordy, I did the same thing yesterday, I hunted for webs all day and only got one. Diane, thank you for sharing, it seems we all had the same idea yesterday. I like the second one as well, because it says come sit and stay awhile.

Hi all--thanks for the nice comments. Glad to be back with the forum. The webs are tough to photograph--unless they have back light, you have difficulty making them stand out. Flash-- internals are pretty useless and external doesn't help a lot either unless you can bounce it a bit to get some reflections/sidelight. Also, they 'move' a bit in the wind, so it seems you need to have a moderately fast shutter also. Hope some of you get some--they are such extraordinary things--and so fragile--metaphors for life, no?!? Diane

Yep they are.....very much so.....no truer words spake...
