Subject: Links to main Gallery & Forum

IO4 ( ) posted Mon, 04 March 2013 at 3:44 AM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 5:21 PM

The recent site change has seemed to remove the direct link to the gallery and forum - is this a permanent change?

I used to like being able to just go to the gallery page and click 'Browse' to see the images - I don't like having to choose a particular gallery section from the drop-down list. I don't find it that user friendly as I don't want to pick just 'By Artist' or 'Gallery of the week' etc.

Same with the forum link.

I don't understand the reasoning for removing this functionality - it's actually making me visit the site less. Perhaps someone could enlighten me :)

Thanks Frank, but previously you didn't have to do that and it only show a certain number of pages. When you clicked the main gallery link before you had more pages, as it didn't just show the newest.

Okay I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding but I'm not sure what links you mean (especially for the forums) we haven't taken away or changed any links in the gallery or forum so I'm not sure which links you mean?

It's monday so bear with me if I'm not clear on what you mean, sorry but I want to help so if you can give me more specific details I'll try.

stacy, she's referring to the gallery menu dropdown.  previously, clicking "gallery" would go to a page with "what's new", "most viewed" etc., dividing the page into 3 sections.  now clicking "gallery" does not cause one's browser to go to another page.

however, since I had to click "browse" previously once I got to that mixed page (to avoid seeing the popularity contest items), I prefer it the way it is now.

Hi Stacey, sorry if my post wasn't very clear - before the recent site changes, i f you clicked 'Forums' or 'Galleries' on the main menu a page would immediately open. For Galleries it showed images divided into sections on the page as Miss NAncy kindly describes. There was  another small link at the top left, just above the first row of images called 'Browse', which when clicked would show you the collection of all images recently posted, spanning a number of pages  - it didn't appear to be the same as 'What's New' in that  I think it extended to a longer time period of images posted. Basically you can no longer open a page of images as described by clicking 'Galleries' - you have to select from the drop-down list.

Similarly, clicking 'Forums' open a page showing all the forums available - again you get no page opening now and have to choose from the drop down list.

It still works that way if you have scripts blocked - except possibly for the Browse link - but at the expense of not getting the menus that used to appear under each top button.
