Looks awesome... Hate to be a sourpuss or somethin' but it's a shame it's not accessible to those of us who are not using the latest version of Poser for various reasons. Realistically the figure at this point in time basically only functions within 1 iteration of the software (Poser2012 is Poser 9 for "pros"). Of course in the long run it's probably a wise, progressive choice... For now and very conceivably into the future considering the many, many people still using past versions of Poser it's too bad such a wonderful looking figure cannot be enjoyed without exception.

Nice to see a free male figure that will actually leave the production stage though (being aware of your previous creations I have no doubt), can't tell you how many times I've seen a creator start a thread on here touting their figure that will be done "soon" and then... nada?

Kirwyn, this is just wonderful. I can't wait to start making stuff for this new man. And he is handsome straight out of the box too. Love that body! A great partner for KezWM.

If you want to do weight mapping, you need to upgrade.  But you know this already.

Thanks everyone.  primorge, making figures for previous versions of Poser always seemed to be a disappointment to me.  I was never satisfied with the bending of the joints.  They looked okay with slight bends but beyond that they started looking pretty bad.  One could improve the bending with JCMs, extra bones, and so forth, but I could never get it good enough.  Weight-mapping, or polygon-smoothing as I would prefer to call it, changed everything.  The results are so much better that I can't imagine going back and doing it the old way.  Weight-mapping as well as gamma correction was like discovering Poser all over again.

I agree!  I do sympathise with those who dont want to pump in more money to upgrade, but in truth P9 was a huge leap forwardf or poser and I'd rather see the content push the user forward into the newer tech than have the users hold the content back to poser 4-6 level functionality.

Well done.  and thanks!!

My intent is not to be disrespectful or to derail this thread in any way but I feel I should elaborate. Very often it's not simply a matter of upgrading the software itself, which is easy and relatively inexpensive. There's also the matter of upgrading or changing to a different type of hardware or perhaps even changing your OS (say from pre-Intel Mac to intel based or to Windows). Things become signicantly more of a tech preference morass and financial commitment (say, the difference of a couple hundred dollars to potentially thousands) in these instances. I'm sure I'm not a alone in this regard, although I wouldn't expect any empathy from the visible majority in these concerns. Not everyone drives a BMW, simply as an analogy.

A Poser 8 user.

kirwyn ( ) posted Sun, 17 March 2013 at 1:14 PM

Primorge, I know where you're coming from.  I recently bought a new Windows 7, 64 bit, 32 GB ram computer.  Poser 2012 now renders with incredible speed and I no longer have "out of memory" problems.  But there was also a downside: Although I could get older programs to install, a couple of my expensive programs like Maya would no longer work because it would not recognize my hardware dongles.  So I had to keep my old computer just to run them.  I think when it finally konks out, I'm going back to the simple days of a pencil and a paint brush.  Technology is just moving too fast, and my brain and my wallet can no longer keep up.

Joe@HFG, the polygon count is roughly 50,000.

You know Kirwyn, I often feel the same about the Digital mediums... Many times it becomes an artistic tool for the privileged. Not so with the "traditional" foundation mediums. There are advantages to cg in terms of studio space and issues of scale though. Ah,well. Anyway. Again, a lovely looking creation... as always. Certainly glad BosTer isn't weight map only, that little critter is easily one of the finest free animal figures in Poser history.

Shutting up now ;)

I am really looking forward to this character.

Have you talked to PhilC about WW support?

Primorge, I am tired of being held back by people who are too cheap to upgrade.  This is like a painter complaining when they run out of ink.
