Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 4:12 am)
Yes it's worth it, in my opinion. Get it on sale and get the ecopainter with it for the money you've saved. There's a lot of difference between Vue 8 and 11, some great improvements and additions.
I didn't get this email and I just went to E-On since I'm very interested as well, but I don't see it being on sale at all at the moment. Do you actually see the sale price or can you only get to it through an email link?
You can compare the two......

Or go to the bottom of the Vue 11 page and checkk compare, the list of new features is huge.

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

I got the email that said for those users who missed Vue upgrades because of the bad economy, E-on Software will be allowing us to upgrade from Version 5 thru 8 to Vue 11. They said this is the last chance and you have to purchase it by March 25.
I have Vue 7 Studio and missed all the upgrades due to financial issues so I'm not passing this up. The cost for Vue 11 Studio is $259 (a $140 savings).
I think only those who haven't upgraded faithfully got the email, but that's just my guess. That's probably why the email was tailored for my version.

Yes, it's for pre-9 users. I'm not sure how E-on got the impression that the crisis is over though..... it may be in some countries, but in others it's worse then ever. I also wonder how people who faithfully upgraded each year or every other version feel about this.
Besides, I haven't upgraded for years and the bad economy had nothing to with it at all, it was Vue terrible upgrade policy and mediocre version releases. First, they release the next version of Vue, fixing bugs of the previous version in the new version, but leaving them in the previous version, that alone has stopped me from upgrading for years now. I'm not sure if they still do it, I've gone from Vue 6 to Ve 10 now and 10 seems pretty stable, so I don't know if they fixed Vue 10 bugs in Vue 11 and leaving them in Vue 10.
Then the mediocre releases has stopped many from buying. After Version 6, I've had version 7 and even version 8 and returned them within the grace period, wondering why I would want to pay full price for them. Now going from 6 to 10 it feels more like I'm going from 6 to 7 or perhaps 8. Compared to to Vue 6, Vue 10 doesn't feel like Vue 10 at all. I'm now debating going to Vue 11, but still haven't seen anything that convinces me to pay the upgrade price. Unless E-on gives me some special upgrade deal as well, I'm not going to 11.
At least ripping off non US citizens has changed, when E-On was still doing the whole 1 dolllar equals 1 euro (or whatever currency), they now give a much more fair exchange rate, so that's good.
Anyway, I'm sure there are more people who didn't upgrade just because of the bad economy, but for many other reasons.

It seemed to me that the new versions were coming out too quickly and that was another reason why I couldn't keep up with them. When I purchased Version 7, a couple of months later Version 8 came out and I wasn't too happy since I felt ripped off and could not afford to pay for another upgrade. I would have waited if I'd known a new version was coming out that soon.
For me, Versions 6-7 crashed too much especially with Poser imports and there really weren't too many changes between the two.
I agree the economy hasn't gotten much better. I think it's getting worse, but it depends on who you talk to.
I would have been satisfied if I could upgrade to an earlier version like 8 or 9 since I don't know if my system can handle Version 11. I don't know if E-on allows skipping versions or if we have to upgrade each time like Adobe is doing.

I took advantage of this.
I had a license Pro version 7. I stopped using it ages ago because of issues with my computer (I think my graphics card was not one they supported) so it's hard to say how much has changed. However, so far, Vue 11 has been pretty stable (so that is a huge change). I haven't tried importanting anything from poser, but I've had some pretty dense Ecosystems with high polys. And none of the example files that I tried gave me problems. Some even rendered very quickly with a very nice looking finished result.
I'm finding that the mix of features is a bit frustrating. For instance, there is a lot of old, Vue 4 style procedurals that are still available, that look...well, like vue 4 (I remember them from my first copy of vue). Then, there are the newer materials that look really good. It would be nice if they would update those older ones with similar but modern values. Learning to create procedurals takes time, and having a rich library of good materials is always a big help at jumping right in.
I'm like you. I want eco-painter, but the price for the next level was just too high for me. I figure I'll grab it once the next billing cycle comes through, so I don't spend too much at once:)
Vue 11 Studio has some new feathers that useful than Vue 8 Studio,so I think it's worth.

I got an e-mail from E-On that Vue 11 Studio is on sale for $269 until March 25. Is it worth it? I would like to have the e-co painter but that is not inlcuded. I have Vue 8 Studio now. Is it worth the money? Thanks, Sherrie
