Subject: Victoria 5 In Poser 2012

AnneWertheim ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2013 at 5:29 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 7:57 AM

I am still failry new to Poser.

I just bought Victoria 5, since I heard a lot of  great reviews.

First it wa sa pain to install with the DSON Importer and it took hours to even get Victoria to load in Poser 2012. Now that I have her, she seems to react painfully slow. Anything that I want to change, like move her arms is super slow. Also IK is greyed out.

I don't even want to attempt to put clothes on her, as she already reacts so slow.

I don't know if this is supposed to be like this. When I was working with for example Alyson, everything went really smooth and fast.

Can  anybody help me with this?

Thanks,

Anne

There are ways to make it somewhat faster. Do a search for DSON in this forum. However, since DSON has to make two incompatible systems work together, it will probably always be slower. It basically has to do more work to get V5 to perform in Poser. Alyson doesn't need the translation.

Thanks! This is really disappointing. I just spent a bunch of money of something that basically is useless, if it acts as slow as it does right now.

It does work well in Daz Studio. I held off learning because the interface was so different and the library isn't that great. But there were a number of items not available in Poser, so I bit the bullet. I still use Poser. In fact today I did renders in both. Each has it's merits. Daz Studio is still free.

I have invested too much time into Poser to switch at this point.

On the Daz3d website it says Victoria 4.w works with poser, so I should find her somewhere

You can get your money back from Daz for 30 days if V5 does not work to your satisfaction.

V4 was made for Poser.
V4 works well in Poser.

There's a V4 & a V4WM "Weight Map"
V4WM bends better then V4

V5WM was made for DAZ Studio.

IMVHO, and even tho I haven't really had the problems with it others have had...I feel that DSON isn't quite ready for primetime. It's glacial slowness, added to it's other little quirks have honestly kept me from using it. Not really a big deal, since I have other figures that work just fine ;). Like someone else mentioned, Daz has a liberal return policy, so you may consider asking them for your money back. They're usually very good about that.

Here's IK for Genesis in Poser...

http://www.sharecg.com/v/67133/browse/11/Poser/Inverse-Kinematics-for-DAZ-Genesis-in-Poser

You can try reducing the subdivision to improve the viewport speed; under the Scripts Menu in the DSON utilities folder run Set SubDivision Level 0 and see if that helps.

She can also be exported from Studio as a normal cr2, (you should have Studio 4.5 installed anyway, to create Poser Companion files to use items that don't have them with DSON)  but you will need to export her clothing too, unless you use dynamics. (There is a WW plugin, but I haven't tried it)  There may be material issues; to get around that, load V5 with DSON, save her materials as a material collection, and apply that to the cr2 version...

Oh, one more thing; Try unchecking Show Progress On Load in the DSON Importer Preferences…

Thanks for the help.

At the moment I need to stick to the basics, as I am just not familiar enough with Poser to try anything too fancy.

I will try your suggestions though and see how far I get with them.

not saying what anyone else should do
but for me ,sounds like it would be easier to just use V5 in DAZ

Thanks for the help

I don't know what changed, but moving her has gotten a lot faster.

If I wouldn't be learning Poser at the moment, I probably would give Daz a try. May be once I feel more comfortable in Poser.

Thanks anyhow!
