Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 16 10:02 pm)
One thing you can try to see if it is running at all is hit ctrl/shift/esc to get your task manager and see if you can see it in either the applications or processes. I'd probably try reinstalling it myself.

I use Poser 13 and win 10
Well I can see it apparently running in the task manager, but I just can't open the window. I tried reinstalling it but with no success.
I've tried launching other Queue Managers from Poser Pro 2010 or PP8. PP2010 opens the window, but then it always says it's running but it's at 0% progress and that the Firefly renderer failed to launch. I tried that a few hours ago and came back and it was still at 0% and nothing had been rendered.
With PP8 I have the same problem as PP2012.
The Queue Manager will be of no use to me if I can't see what's going on. I could be waiting for hours and nothing could be rendering at all.
I didn't seem to have that problem before. I could have the Queue Manager from PP 8 running before, and then, rather than shutting it down and relaunching PP2012, I could just click render in queue in PP2012 and it would send it to the PP8 QM.
Now none of them even seem to open properly even if I launch the QM which corresponds to the particular version I'm using. So PP8 QM doesn't open if I'm in PP8 or PP2012 QM in PP 2012 etc. It might be running in the background but the window just doesn't open, as if it's permanently minimised.
Try using the task manager to end the process, reboot, and then send a job to the queue.
You can also hack the QM xml file (where the details of what's still in the queue is stored) with an editor and clear out the existing jobs. I can't remember offhand where the xml is, somewhere in that dark user data area...
I've located the QM xml file, but how exactly do I clear out the jobs from there? Do I just delete the text in the xml file and then save it (ensuring that the tags are there correctly)?
I really do wish I could see what is in the QM though. I don't know why it doesn't open at all. I also used to be able to launch whichever QM from whichever version i wanted and then send stuff from Poser 2012 to Poser 8 without having to shut one down. Now none of them seem to work.
The only one that does seem to open is my 2010 QM (but of course, it just sits there if I try to render something from PP2012 in it). Is there some way to reassign that to PP2012 so that it becomes that one's QM? I don't know what I would have to edit to do that.
If I remember correctly, the xml has a line for each frame or image to be rendered, with a key set to "0" if it's still in the queue, and "2" if it's completed.
I would:
Make a safety copy of the xml;
Try setting all keys to "2", close everything, restart QM. (Notepad++ is great for this kind of edit.)
If that doesn't work, try deleting every line in the xml that refers to a frame.
Last resort: delete the xml (but keep your safety copy!).
I have had the same problem, and by hacking around in the xml got things to work again. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what i did, so... good luck!

I'm using Poser Pro 2012. My Queue manager used to work fine. When I clicked render in queue, the queue manager window would actually open up and show the list of documents to be rendered. I could also see the progress of the render.
Now it just doesn't open as of yesterday. If I click on the queue manager icon it doesn't open at all and I have no idea whether it's running or how far along it is. I have no idea why, but the only thing that happened was that there was a Windows update. I tried a system restore to put it back before the update but that had no effect.
Has this happened to anyone else? How can I fix this? Should I reinstall it? I want to be able to see what is going on so I know how long I have to wait or if it's actually doing anything.
Thanks.
