I have M4 in Poser 8. Can anyone tell me how to delete the undies? I know DAZ has issues about nudity, but I'll cover him back up, I promise!

Apply a new texture set, the shorts a painted on the default one.

Yeah, you can use another texture you've purchased, and if you haven't purchased one, there's a few fairly nice free ones at sharecg and maybe even in Rendo freestuff. There is a very nice Daz texture, sans shorts, for purchase at the site, included in his morphs package, along with his giblets. LOL.

Thanks. My other problem is finding stuff that I add to the library. I can go back and see them in the Windows files, but they don't show up in the Poser libraries. Skin shaders would be in materials, yes?

VolcanicMink ( ) posted Sat, 06 April 2013 at 10:49 PM

Here's one problem example:

I added Easy Shader to the downloads

[Poser 8>Downloads>runtime>libraries>materials].

In Poser under Materials downloads I find easy_shader3 with the different shades listed (cream, liquid, milk, etc), but each of these files is empty. What happened?

You are not providing enough information for us to go on.  First, what Poser version are you using?  This is important because the different version have different approachs towards solving particular problems.

Second, what OS are you running?  On PC's, WinXP is very forgiving if you place Poser within it's Program Files folder.  Vista, Win7 and Win8 will block your content from showing because of their UAC, a protective measure to saveguard files from viruses and malware.  If you did not select Poser 8's default installation under those conditions, then you will need to go back and reinstall the software, or create external runtimes to host your future installs.

If you look in the folder for the m4 default skin texture there is a file with no shorts. Just change skinhip to the new image map.

I think its something like M4smpltorsoM

I think you're installing to the runtime in the program folder. Ya can't if you use anything newer than (and including) Windows Vista. There was a separate folder in your Documents made on installation where you should install your content.

Laurie, I think you're referring to the Downloads folder. That did show up, but didn't work. Taking hborr's advice, I have reinstalled the program and "Downloads" looks a little different now, with subcategories. These did not show before on the Poser screen.

Markschum, when I get all this sorted out, I'll look for that file again. Currently, it doesn't appear as an option.

I also got hold of Practical Poser 6. (I noticed Practical Poser 8 is available on Amazon.) This is a lot more useful than the manual, and has a section about library management. My concern is that, other than the Downloads folder, nothing else looks different in the Library, so there may be stuff stuck in there junking it up that I can't retrieve.

Thanks everyone!

The Practical Poser series is an excellent set of books which explains and reveals much of the mystery about Poser.  Practical Poser 8 is much more suited for your needs because it covers the new interface.
