Hallo;

I am having a very annoying problem...

my Poser is freezing at random times now, and when this happens i am forced to restart the whole computer, because everything freezes and my whole pc comes to a complete stillstand...where not even my mouse moves anymore.

I even have to switch of my computer with the main power botton because it cant be done normally due to the fact that everything is paralyzed!...

Is this a Poser problem?...i dont think its my graphics card, because i recently aquired a very powerful one:

AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition

Poser Pro 2012

Windows 7 Home Premium service pack 1

64-Bit Operating system

4.00 GB Memory installed

This total freeze problem has just begon since last night, and it has never happened before...

 Tips and hints are welcome...

Thanks for viewing.

Scan for Viruses?

Did a driver get updated? Perhaps automatically?

I dont know of any driver getting updated automatically...

And as for viruses...i havent scanned for them.

Are the above issues known to cause Poser and pc freezes?...

I had this happen to me a while back, and SM suggested I reinstall Poser (PP2010). I did, and everything worked again...

This was going to be my next suggestion as well.

One more question...

Can these crashes be caused if Poser is not updated to SR 1?...or does it not matter if it is updated or not.

ALWAYS install the latest update to the software. There is no way of knowing if the problem is something that has been solved by a SR if you don't.

I did have long waits befor installing 3.1.  acted as if frozen, but eventually came back.  times were in the minutes.

Online Now!

Yes, I would definitely update to SR3.1 Not only can't anyone really help you diagnose your problem but you're also missing bug fixes and improvements.

Unlikely its directly due to Poser as hardware lock ups should be too low level for applications to cause but it could be due to a thirdy party component Poser makes use of.

Its always worth checking for the latest video drivers even if its a new card.

Would also check Flash and AIR versions are up to date as you are using 64Bit.

If you don't already have one, I would suggest create a system recovery disk (Control Panel->System and Security->Backup and Restore - "Create a system repair disk") just in case powering off the PC has damaged something on the disk.
