Maybe someone could assist me ! I have recently come across that if I have more than 6 figures/Characters in a scene to be rendered in Poser I find is that when I request it to render using anti alias. It begins the process then it just hangs and does nothing! I have a Pentium 3 500mhz with 384mb RAM and 30gigHD with a TNT2 32mg Graphics card. O/S is ME Please help?

are you using hi rez maps? that may be part of the problem- too memory intense.you may want to try and take the textures into an image editing program to try and make them a smaller file size. What chars are you using? Mike and Vicky are really too much of a memory hog to be useful for anything with over 2 or 3 chars... you may want to use a combination of mike vicky(main chars) and the reg poser possette(background secondary chars). When i had my 200 mmx machine 98 mg ram voodoo 2 card with 16 mg ram on board windows 95 os (less than 3 months ago) i was able to render in excess of 30 figures- but i was using only poser and possette not mike or vickie. I also had to make sure i turned off ALL background apps and tsr's.i could run my os and poser ONLY. A render of 30 + chars would take me anywhere from 4 hours to 9 hours in poser, depending on what rez//format the textures were that i was using. Are you sure it's hanging and not just taking a long time to render? how long did you wait before you shut it down? A typical poser render for me takes about 40 mins and up...even now with a 1 gig machine 256 mg ram and a geForce2 card 64 mg ram on board....

Yes I am using Mike and Vicky characters with Hi Res maps. I don't think the system hangs but I may be impatient ...The time I give before I give up is 10 - 20 minutes. I will take your tips as I do have background applications running so need to turn them off! Thanks

haria, wait! :o) i tried one render with three figures and 6000x6000 pixel texture breathe on 1,3 gig with 768 mb ram and 64 mb gforce 2 and had to wait 35 mins before the man started to make his sidesteps...

Just a bit of FYI.. It doesnt matter how much RAM your video card has. It doesnt get touched in any part of the rendering.

If you have a paint program like Corel Photo Paint or Adobe Photoshop, just render a few characters at a time and copy and paste all into one final image. I've found its sometimes best not to try to get Poser to do everything all at once. Mike
