Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 31 9:45 am)
Not that I remember but there is a 3rd party tool, Fog Tool Deluxe - says it does rain. Since you do a lot of ocean and outdoor scenes, I've wonder if you've ever tried using Vue?

Here is a free rain tool, and if you look through Traveler's atmospheric items, she has a few more, including fog and my favorite, fireworks, for free.

The fog tool Delux is very good but it does take a while to render well. In the past I have tried to get the lighting match the scene I am looking to finish with and then add the 'atmosphere' using layers in post work.
One of the things I have found interesting using Luxrender is the use of volumes to create atmosphere such as fog, not sure on rain and snow as yet as I have only just started playing. It may be me but the setting up of atmopheres appears to be much easier in Lux and, depending on the scene, renders as fast if not faster than Firefly.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

In Poser 8, is there a material for the Atmosphere to produce rain or snow or hail?
