I guess this may have already been posted somewhere as it's not that new, but I've only just discovered it - Technion have reproduced Eschers drawings as 3D models  using 3D printing - it's amaing to see how they are constructed when viewed from different angles: check out the video:

That's way cool!
But it takes away from the  fantastic stuff Escher did, I think.

Thanks for the link. Saw a set of 3d printed jewellery too, in  a showcase.. looked pretty..lacked the shimmer and sparkle of jewellery, and not so sure if i'd wear them! 

I have to agree with peedy here. Fantastic technology but it really doesnt do much for me when finished.

The possibilities are endless.  It's been suggested that instead of sending ships to Mars with a cargo hold of spare parts, they send one of these printers and a bulk load of whatever the printing material is.
