i want to use this movie theater but i am converting it to something else where that front booth is not needed. i checked to see if i could just make the areas transparent but the texture is connected i.e. -all the brick is one.

so i am wondering is there a way i can change the texture so the information will not be read for that area? or is there some other way i can get that booth to dissappear?

i am wondering if the only way is to select everything but that booth and export it as an object.

what are your thoughts?

thanx in advance

a transparency map will do it. Use black for the hidden bits and white for the rest.  You can attach that to transparency and specular. Set transparency eddge to 0.

You know that hiding the booth may caause defects in the area it connects to the rest of the building because of missing geometry. It all depends on how it was modelled.

Another approach:-

Load the original prop into the scene, go to the material room and save a material collection for it.

Open the grouping tool and see if you can select all but the booth. If so, select then click the spawn prop button.

Delete the original prop.

Apply the material collection to the spawned prop.

you can also use the grouping tool o allocate a new material for the booth, and then make that transparent in materials.

PhilC's solution is definite, particular, exclusive and sufficient. In other world no more needs to be said. Certainly it is better to get rid of the thingy rather than to have it hanging invisible around possible causing all kinds of trouble. I tried once to argue with Phil. Now I know better.

ok so i used the grouping tool and yes the part i want to remove is part of the hold but i could select just the part i wanted after some long tedious work. problem is i click spawn prop and create prop i name it but have no idea where they are saved.

i have yet to tackle the issue of a texture(if there is an issue at all)

IIRC, you have to select the newly spawned prop and save it to the library. I that it will be created exactly on top of the original so you may have to move it to even see that it's there - maybe using the hierarchy list to select it. AFAIK, there shouldn't be any issues with the UV mapping. All of that is based on fading memory though :-)

another thing i was wondering

which color indicates the selected. red or blk? i assumed red would be selected maybe i got confused.

though it would be nice if there a "delete" selected area feature. then again that might be too easy.

thanx for the response
