Subject: Where has prepass in vue 10 Gone?

iborg64 ( ) posted Sat, 11 May 2013 at 3:28 PM · edited Mon, 02 December 2024 at 9:27 AM

Recently I had been experimenting with atmospheres in vue 10. Usually I had just used presets that came with vue or i had bought seperatly. Now I have noticed that when I use GR or IR atmospheres they no longer do the dark prepass . Even scenes I had already done that first did a prepass and then then the second pass complete in one pass now. The finished images dont look (at least to me ) any different without prepass as they did with a prepass , but do appear to render quicker .Any idear what I may have done , and giving that i cant see any difference any way is anything to even bother about ?, though I would like to know what may have happend

Many thanks in advance for anyone able to help

You might have accidently checked "Re-use indirect lighting" in Render settings?

How obvious this is depends on the difference between the indirect lighting in the original and the current render. In general it is not recommended unless it is the same scene with little differences that effect indirect ligthing. It can be used to speed things up if you just tweak the scene or add minor elements. It can also save lots of time in animation if conditions don't change drastically from frame to frame.

Otherwise the pre-pass is still there if you use GI or GR lighting.

Some of the sample scenes have it turned on.  And so it doesn't turn back off unless you load a scene with it off, or you know to turn it off before working on a new scene from scratch.
