Hi Yarp!- Sombody has it, as I've seen references to it, if you did a search over in Poser tech you would probably turn it up. Bear in mind you don't have to use it, though, I never bother. I think th eidea is it supplies non-english names for parts and stuff for non-english versions of Poser.

heyas; its in my tutorial section of the 3d menagerie goodies. oh, wait, 1029? no,i only have 1024 and 1028. never seen any 1029's :/

yarp ( ) posted Sun, 16 September 2001 at 11:50 PM

Hi Jim, you're absolutely right the GetStringRes is used to translate non-english terms. There are several GetStringRes, I don't know haw many exactly but I need the 1029 to translate Texture names for P3dO and See3D. Bloodsong, your lists are unvaluable, 'have got them for long ;)) I was thinking those 1029 codes were probably from some old P3 items in my libraries. If I can't find the list I'll have a look in Poser itself. Thank Anyway. If someone got them the best is to send the list to Curious - and to me ;)). Nosferatu is still working on the Poser technical doc.

I think RSOB has the list - however the site is currently closed in sympathy for September 11th.

Thanks to everybody, I didn't went to RSOB for long it's really a nice web page. Awsome ! Lemurtek, in .RSR really ?! ;)) I was supposed to be the .RSR specialist. It's just too good to be true, I can now figure out what where - some - of those curious .RSR that P3dO couldn't read. As I said Lemurtek you should send this list to Nosferatu at Curious (anthony@curiouslabs.com) he's in charge of the Poser technical documentation and he would be grateful to you, as I am, for this. Although I'm not Curious' you've won my eternal acknowledgment, as far as my eternity goes. I'm going to seriously study the .RSR files - again. Yarp

yarp ( ) posted Mon, 17 September 2001 at 1:57 PM

I think you do, this is a valuable info for all. I'm currently thinking I will make a tool to have a closer look into that Poser.rsr where our 1024, 1028 and other 1029 are warmly installed. Let's go visit them ;))

Lemurtek ( ) posted Tue, 18 September 2001 at 12:25 AM

Your're welcome. Poser gets a lot of milage out of the various rsr files. Probably al kinds of mischief one could get up to by delving the Poser.rsr file. :) Oh and Bloodsong, of course you have to put it up. Fitting punishment for curiosity about it in the first place! :) Regards- Lemurtek

wyrwulf ( ) posted Tue, 18 September 2001 at 9:25 AM

Great program, Yarp, and it keeps getting better. Lemurtek, what program are you using to look inside the Poser.rsr? I opened it with NotePad, but it's full of symbols. Thanks.

yarp ( ) posted Tue, 18 September 2001 at 1:37 PM

You need an hexidecimal editor. Most henanced text editor do this. There's one absolutely good text editor called Texpad. It's a cheap shareware (30$) but with awsome features and it does load a several Mo Poser file without effort. Look for Textpad on the web and get it. You won't regret Notepad, but rather LOL

wyrwulf ( ) posted Tue, 18 September 2001 at 5:23 PM

Thanks, Yarp. I'll go have a look. I'm actually using EditPad Classic from http://www.jgsoft.com/ as a substitute for Windows NotePad.

Lemurtek ( ) posted Tue, 18 September 2001 at 5:52 PM

I use both textpad and WinHex. As Yarp said, Textpad is a great high end texteditor, with programming and HTML support. It's also great for doing complex searches in text files. http://www.textpad.com Winhex doesn't have the editing features, but it does have a lot of geekish goodies for snooping about inside files. http://www.winhex.com Bloodsong, I'll get right on that! :) Regards- Lemurtek

yarp ( ) posted Tue, 18 September 2001 at 11:39 PM

I just grabed WinHex it seems to be a good Hex editor. Worth the try anyway. Thank for the info Lemurtek.

No Prob. Winhex does everything I need, although my needs aren't all that demanding. :) Regards- Lemurtek

FYI... I've posted an updated GetStringRes list in the tutorials section of my site. The list includes 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028 & 1029 references extracted directly from Poser.rsr. I'm in the process of adding 1052's as well. More to be added as time permits. -Rob rbtwhiz.com
