Subject: Problems with Python Scripts running in Poser 2014

hornet3d ( ) posted Tue, 21 May 2013 at 3:30 AM · edited Fri, 13 December 2024 at 2:59 PM

OK so I have downloaded the new software and notice some of the python scripts and add-ons do not work.

A couple of my scripts form Netherworks do not work while a couple do.  Camers plus works but light dots and renderder dots do not neither does scripts aout launch.  In each case I have a message saying it could not load and I should check the installation.  I have downloaded the package again and re-installed but no effect.

In the add-ons Reality 3 appears to work, weel at least is loads, but trying Shaderworks Advanced library manager 2.6 appears to launch I have a box come up with the title but when I click OK there is no library.

I was under the impression that no changes were done in python for 2014 so what am I doing wrong?

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Contact the vendors of the scripts, most are surely on the beta team.
And they'll probably release an update or solve your issues.

Happy Posering

Thanks for that and it is clearly the way to go but I wanted to make sure I was doing nothing wrong my end before I bothered others.  For some reason I the Advanced Library Manager 2 has strated working and the other script I use all the time, the camera plus panel works.  The auto script not working is a bit of a pain but I will have play some more and then take your advice if I cannot solve the problem.

The autoscript needs an update. Netherworks is on the beta team and no doubt he will have an update soon. The other scripts should work since there are a number of us which use those. Shaderworks will bring an update - but that it to add the new features of P10

Reality worked also last time I tried. Octane does as well as do all the other scritps which I have tried in PP2012

Thanks for the infomation, as I thought there were no changes to python in Poser 2014 I thought all would be OK.  Thinking about it if Poser does some changes to the way it does things an update would be needed.

I have used Netherworks scripts for a few versions now and he is always good with updating so I am fine with that.

The autoscript needs to be updated since it needs to work together with the plugins as far as I recall. One or the other would not start

Just that you know there will be an update to Reality 3 to support the new compound node and to solve an issue with the new Python. Most of Reality works but changing the type of a material doesn't. The update is ready, we are just finishing testing it.

Cheers.

Hey there!

For my stuff:

The updates are complete and in place and should be going out today at Runtime DNA.  Camera Panel Plus already had an update and I went ahead and fixed it for P10 at that time.

The python version hasn't changed but what my scripts look for has.  Poser 10/Pro 2014 can run "Poser 9" scripts so I just had to tell the loaders to load the version 9 script for Poser 10.

If you need a script of mine to run immediately and don't mind a few seconds of tinkering, open the relevant script from the "ScriptsMenu" subfolders using Notepad ++ (or similar) and under:

ver = int(ver)

insert (on a new line):

if ver >= 10: ver = 9

Yeah, that's pretty much it. :)

I have some other bits to add about a couple of them but I don't want this to get commercial-related.

Thanks Netherworks.

I use so many of your scripts on a daily basis that they are part of Poser to me now so I miss them when they are gone.  Of course I can manage without and I was happy to wait once I knew that it was not something I was doing, or not doing, to stop them working.

Thanks for your efforts I will wait for RDNA as I have so much to play with at the moment.

I have been posting on the rdna forums regarding shaderworks plug in issues for poser pro2014 are they releasing an update for library manager 2.6 ?

estherau ( ) posted Wed, 22 May 2013 at 8:29 AM

WEll I find when I install scripts into a new version of poser that I always have to change permissions on the main poser folder to read write including subfolders.

Also whenever library manager has a whole new library of stuff to do it has to be open awhile I think to get verything in the right place.  well that may not solve your particular issue. I get odd python messages from time to time that i just ignore. the script still works for me.

I have the library woking as well, launced from the scripts menus not the addon under 'window' which I believe is used for updates.  Confirm that this does launch as manager 2.6 or 2.6.130312 to be exact.

wimvbd has stated that the shaderworks update is to add extra funcionality of Poser 10.

I am glad that the only scripts I am using are snarlygribbly's. I use SceneFixer some and have used EZSkin a couple times. Other than that, I am script free.

I have got used to having the screens set up with many of the scripts set to run on start up.  I find the camera plus panel to be very quick to use and takes less screen space than the Poser camera which I would only use for camera selection as I use a space navigator for camera placement.

Being able to pick my favorite lights and switch between portrait and landscape resolution renders as well as test and final renders at the click of the mouse button is quick and easy.

The downside is when you update Poser but as that is every other year not a real problem.

This time was breeze thanks to the support of vendors, I had Poser downloaded and installed by mid morning and by mid-afternoon I had my start up screen just as I like it, scripts and all.

Just tested EZSkin2, too... works a treat. 😄
