Subject: Poser Frustration

Hi,

No offense, but Poser is the most frustrating software that I have ever tried to use. I have a couple of charaters that I purchased, one required M4, the other requires Hiro (Zane and Stephan).

So, I have to load M4 in order to use Zane, and I have to load Hiro in order to use Stephan.

I Put both Stephan and Zane into my Download folder when I unzipped them.

I opened M4 and then tried to add Stephan..oops big mistake. Stephan is looking for Hiro. I get an error message tell me that. However, my computer freezes at this point.  Poser will no longer respond to anything that I try to do. I keep getting the same error notice over and over, when I X it closed, it just comes back. The only way to close Poser is to go to the Windows manager and kill the program.

Is there another way to close this program when it freezes?

Thx,

Joey

M4 is a main figure that you would have to have in your runtime to use any character pack that uses M4. You would also probably want the Morph ++ package from DAZ as well. Hiro is a new set of morphs for M4 so if your character needs these morphs, you have to have Hiro in  your runtime for it to load properly. The reason you keep getting the same error over and ove ris that Poser is trying to find all the morph targets and data for each limb/apendage for your figure.

Are you running a newer version of Poser on an old system? Are you running an older version of Poser on a new system? Does your system meet the recommended system requirements?

When you purchase a Poser figure, the merchant should list what required products (M4, H4, M4 Morphs++) you need to have installed in order to use their product. If you're getting the error, it's probably because you're missing one of those things. As for the program freezing, even if you get an error, that shouldn't normally happen, so something may be less than ideal with your system. If it's an older version of Poser, you may try running it in Compatibility mode for an older version of Windows?

(also, if it's an old used box version you got from somewhere, you might also wanna check and see if there was a patch released that would fix some of the stability issues)

It gets rapidly less frustrating as you learn it.

I aim to update it about once a month.  Oh, and it's free!

In the read me which version of Hiro?  There is Hiro3 which is a separate stand alone figure from DAZ's Gen 3.

If you go to download.con, you should still be able to locate the free models DAZ was giving away.  This zip contains the base models for V3, M3, A3, and full H3.  The first 3 base models come with expression morphs but if you want more, you will need to buy the head and body morph packs for V3 and M3 and the maps and morphs pack for A3.  Hiro3 has all his morphs included.  None of the models in the zip comes with textures or hair.

If the product requires Hiro4, you will need to check the readme to see what you need.

However since Poser is asking for Hiro, it's likely looking for the H3 figure.
