Subject: Issue never mentioned- loosing the imput if you have to go back in gallery

Lyne ( ) posted Wed, 22 May 2013 at 5:17 PM · edited Fri, 31 January 2025 at 11:58 AM

I am nearly in tears...I am trying to upload an image and put a LOT of "live credit links" for products... because I forgot to check mark, I got the screen that said "you need to check this" to upload...and so when I went back, everything I had put in was GONE...

Am I doing it wrong? is there a place to click to go "back" (other than the back arrow on my browser) that will just let me go back and finish checking all the right things?  Every time I make a mistake because of my dyslexia, or trying to find a marchent's name, etc. I loose all the information I put in. At this point, I have been here nearly a half hour.  :(

Well I tried this myself and didn't have a problem doing it.  I am not sure why this is happening to you.  I have reported it to our tech and we will just have to wait and see what they come back with.

Have you tried it again since this day?

This has happened forever, just that it's harder to put in all the credits now with getting the white background... I did ask my friend and she said try the "barely visible" link in the sentence about going back...she said to do what she does when she can't see the text on your pages: she "highlights" it to read it.... so next time I upload (before I put in all the credits!) I will test this out myself.

What version of IE to you test it on? I have IE8.... so does my friend...she and I keep trying each other's problems out to help each other too.

I am SO frustrated I might even try another browsers... something I have never considered until now. I am dyslexic and tend to stay with what I know... but what browser would you sugest that would be the most likely to work with your new site? (and maybe not be too hard to learn?)

Thanks.

Hi Lyne,

It is hard to change believe me.  I use to use IE but the office talked me into using Chrome and I wouldn't go back now.

Just give it a chance and see what you think.  Most of the problems reported come from IE browsers in my opinion.

Testing, testing... on Chrome... its a very simple interface...but I do need to make it 125% larger like I do IE to be able to read text... any idea where/how I do that? I am testing/replying to this thread, because that is when the posts USED TO stretch out horizontially under the right hand ads....

wish me luck !LOL!

FOUND IT... set it...and so far the posts are staying where they should be! wow! :)

HTTP is a stateless protocal, unless they are storing that information in a PHP Session or a Cookie, it is not possible to repopulate those fields when you return to the page after you leave it.

So short answer, you are doing nothing wrong, it's working exactly as it's coded.

Of course, you could debate that how it's coded is not ideal, and that it should store and repopulate fields when returning to a page.

Ideally if it throws an error it should allow you to return and re-pass all of the entered values to the form, which would then use them to repopulate the form fields.  I suppose you could say current state is bad error handling.

ah... well guess I better just go slower and be VERY careful when I have a lot of items to fill in... sigh.  I am going to try Chrome for my next image upload, which WILL have a lot of things to put in (a lot of product links).  Once again, thanks Fenier!  :)
