Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
Wow - I'm so sorry to hear about the hacking and that it's made you decided not to put things back up as a result - that's a real loss to the 3d community, in my opinion - there are new people coming around all the time who would love to have access to your creations. :(.
I know I have many of them and I just checked a few and see no issues in Poser Pro 2012. So I'm not sure why you would have to rebuild them in order for people to enjoy them.
Whatever your decision, I want to thank you for all the wonderful things you created and generously shared over the years and wish you the best of luck for the future.
Looking at your Terms of use I don't see anything about permission to share them if someone requests something - is that ok?
Cheers,
Alisa

Your oak trees and the wood fencing draped with blackberries were among the first freebies I got when I began using Poser, and I appreciate them and thank you for them.
I'm not sure what issues may occur with the newer versions of Poser, but I would be happy to try to make updates for your stuff, if you'd like.
Poser 12, in feet.
OSes: Win7Prox64, Win7Ultx64
Silo Pro 2.5.6 64bit, Vue Infinite 2014.7, Genetica 4.0 Studio, UV Mapper Pro, UV Layout Pro, PhotoImpact X3, GIF Animator 5
The only "problems" PP-2014 had was the .rsr file instead of a .png thumbnail and that it was looking for .bum files first instead of using the appropiate .jpg bumpmaps directly.
Once loaded I ran it through SceneFixer to set the textures to "crisp" and to set all transmaps and bumpmaps to a gamma of "1" instead of "2.20".
(See render)
I might add some more elaborate shader for the wood, but that isn't really necessary.
Poser is still very backwards compatible. All it takes is a little tweaking here and there sometimes.
Thanks guys for the feedback, you can all share them as much as you like.
All I know is I can't load my models into Poser 8. I can change the thumbnails with Runtime Repair, but the actual models just wont load. What's more, other people's old models won't load into Poser 8 either. When I try to load models I get a message saying Poser can't find the actual figures so I'm guessing it needs a link to the geometries which I always traditionally just put into the prop or figure folders. Poser 8 seems to prefer a separate geometry folder. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but my recent models do have a geometry folder and they work fine.
By the way, I did actually have complaints from some people that my models didn't work with their Poser, so I don't know what is going wrong unless the person who hacked my site had been altering the downloads before they destroyed my site. Someone out there doesn't like me and I'm not risking putting my models up again. I was getting fed up with messages from security utilities labelling my site as "Warning, contains dangerous downloads".
Thanks, Bruce, for your offer to help. It's really kind of you but it makes me feel lazy and there are so many better models on offer these days and I don't think my old models are worth the bother. I'd really like to concentrate on my artwork as I now appear to be painting far better than I ever have done. I think this might have been due to the shock of my mother dying, but I'm now a much valued artist in my community and I feel much happier for making so many new friends who are closer than those in Render art. And while that might sound ungrateful to you all, my health as a disabled person is getting worse and I need more and more local support if I get too ill to continue. On top of fibromyalgia, arthritis, diabetes and blood problems, I've also just been diagnosed with a damaged spine and am finding art a struggle at times as my muscles and nerves continue to weaken. Sorry to moan, I must sound pathetic, but thank you all for your support and consideration. My lovely mum was very proud that I contributed so much to Render art.
I understand, zippy. Sometimes, you have to just drop a burden, and get on about life. And if, after a "Poser holiday", you feel like getting back into it, we'll leave the light on, and keep you a place at the table.

well if you ever want any back I have some so just email me at esther@paceficiton.com and I'll either zip them up and send via dropbox or I'll burn them onto a DVD for you.
Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!

Just to let folks know that before last Christmas someone hacked into my freebie site and destroyed it, and I'm not going to try to put up a new site if that's gonna happen. It was also becoming clear that most of my freebies won't work with post Poser 5 software. So I'm affraid zippy is no more as I've now returned to fine art and don't have the time to rebuild all my models just to suit updated software. But thank you everyone for your appreciative comments and encouragement over the many years I've enjoyed contributing freebies to render art. There are still a few freebies available through Renderosity, so enjoy them while you can.
Thanks
