So I'm needing a good short hair for my next render, and was wondering if maybe some people could tell me what their favorite short hairs are? Looking specifically for hair that responds well to light...

You didn't specify male or female, straight or curly, or dynamic or trans mapped.

Where most short hair doesn't seem to move much if you choose dynamic you probably won't need to drape it so as long as you render it in poser it probably won't matter much.

My favorite dynaimc styles are Meggie tails (but I'm biased and that is more for kids) and  Baronie hair and Tabare Hair by Adorana

My Favorite transmapped styles are Sayoko, Paris and Reihair.

I believe these are also all free or came with poser.

I'm not sure if Tabare or Baronie hair are available any more as the site seems to be down (you might try web.archive.org for http://www.adorana.de)

Would you please specify what you mean by "Short" hair?

do you man short as in a Bob or short like a boyish crop?

I didn't specify much because I can really do with any hair (I'm used to re-texturing hair and making morphs to fit other characters). I've seen lots of free hair that's just as good as commercial hair, and lots of commercial hair that's not all that great. As far as dynamic vs transmapped go, transmapped is easier and more convenient to handle... but I can never get it to look quite right. However because I'm on a linux pc when I try to run dynamic simulations sometimes it freezes... I really wish there would be improvements for poser hair... hope they get to that in poser 11...

When I say short I mean no longer than shoulder-length, and short boyish hair is good.  I'm open to trying lots of different styles on the render I'm working on now, and besides it's good to have some feedback on people's favorites right? ^^

The Rei hair looks really good, thank you RedPhantom :) I know Koz has a lot of really nice free hair, but I never noticed that one somehow... there's a good set of colors for it up on sharecg too it seems. I'll download that and eventually get to work making morphs for it :)

I was going to suggest Wild Hair over at RDNA, one of the best rendering hair IMO, but it appears no longer for sale.

Superbob, some Koz things, Fabiana's things, and a bunch of others... In particular toon style and .hr2 or prop. WildHair is a very nice .hr2 but not quite what I would consider strictly a short hair, although it is a bob.

...been a while since I used WildHair but just messing around with it it has many styling morphs that change it to a shorter parted bob style. Keep forgetting that I have this hair in my collection, if what ashley9803 says is true it's a shame such a nicely made model is no longer available and the vendor no longer has products here at Renderosity.
