Subject: Today was the first day

luckybears ( ) posted Fri, 14 June 2013 at 4:32 PM · edited Sat, 03 August 2024 at 4:06 PM

Today I saw no thumbnails in the 'what's new' gallery that prompted me to look at the image. This is the first time this has happened. Is this an indication that rendo artists are losing creativity?

the first page only presents say 4 hours of work (between the first and last entry on the page), or even only half an hour when it's "publishing time" (end of the weekend usually). So maybe statistics worked against you.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though

I suggest that instead of pointing the finger at others, start with yourself...... why don't you post some inspiring artworks to spark creativity in others?

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

It could be your mood, or just people aren't doing what you are interested in. We can't expect others to always produce for us and our tastes. (this site would be much different if people went by what I like) It doesn't mean the creativity is drying up, just that it isn't suiting you.

I for one dont post very many images because apparently its just a popularity contest.

I will post some pretty decent images and might get 4 views and right near my image will be a very amaturish image with 30 views. I see this over and over.

Response to images seems to have no relationship to the quality of work. In addition very mediocre images great praise heaped on them so the "artist" is deluded into thinking their stuff is good. So apparently they see little reason to try and improve their skills

That's the most likely scenario.  Considering everyone here - or most of us, at least - have lives away from Rosity and Poser, there's not always time to create a masterpiece or two before dinner.  :)

Edited to add:  I believe due consideration should also be given to Sturgeon's Law.

I used to build furniture as a hobby, I think wood workers try and make each piece they produce a little better than the last one. Learning from doing and practice.

Art is no different. The joy is in a thing well done. I encourage practicioners of this art to visit art museams, study professional work, read books on art and photography. We all need inspiration from time to time. I constantly see textures improperly scaled, wood grain running the wrong way on a piece of wood. Imagine if this were music being played as an audience would one want to listen to one horrible rendition after another? Not likely. Why is visual art any different? Hobbies it seems to me require a certain level of passion if they are to be useful pasttimes.

Sturgeon's Revelation: "90 percent of everything is crud."

Never forget to consider Sturgeon.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

The images that I see with the most views are the ones with the nudity tag. I have posted images in there that I've spent a lot of time getting right; from the lighting to the pose, the overall mood of the piece; only to have it basically ignored: no comments, nothing. Meanwhile, the same tired images of nude V4 get hundreds of views and are in the "art charts" at the top. And the comments are glowing...

It does seem to be a popularity contest. Even the comments that I have gotten on my work, while I appreciate them, are pretty generic and I see the same comments from the same people on work that I think is amaturish.

I stay out of there now.

I must admit that I had not considered my own mood, good point :)

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2013 at 7:48 PM

It depends a lot on what you're lookiung for. If you're oin the mood for NVIATWAS pics, you'll likely skip mine without even considering them :) Which is fine, because that's not what I do :) (except for the random one just to prove a fact ;))

I tend to do a lot of themed renders (when I DO renders.. I noticed I hadn't uploaded any in all of 2012 O.o) and at the moment it's all Dexter based in some way. before that, it was Snape :)

So if you're looking for dexter pics.. you've come to the right place. If you (most likely...) are looking for anything else.. well... move on, nothing to see here L

I'm always pleasantly surprised when I get a comment from someone I know isn't already following me. That means someone actually clicked my thumbnail. I love my followers, but the "random clicker" is in a way even more valuable :)
