Subject: Prime items don't count in coupon chain?

gwp ( ) posted Sun, 30 June 2013 at 12:50 PM · edited Mon, 07 October 2024 at 2:58 AM

I just wanted to clarify one thing abou the current - and future - coupon chains.  On Friday I used the first coupon in the chain to buy an item over $5 at 10% off and then received the second coupon in the chain on Saturday.  Because I had just purchased a number of items using the 20% off Prime coupon and I was away from home and had very little time to put together an order, I simply ordered more than $16 of Prime club items from my Wishlist and applied the second coupon on the order, even though I knew that there would not be a discount on the prime items, because I wanted to validate the second coupon.  I have not received the third coupon, so I guess that in order for a coupon to be considered to have been used, there must be at least one non-Prime item in the order.  Is this spelled out anywhere, because I know that we can use Prime items to bring the total on our order up to the amount required by the coupon but I did not know that if an order  consisted solely of Prime items then applying a coupon would not count for it being used.

Hi gwp,

I am showing you only used a Gift Cert on your order on 06/29 which would of been the second coupon in the series.  If you had used the coupon on this day you would of received a coupon for the final day.

The coupons will not work on Prime items due to they are already at a discounted $3.50 price.

Hi Tina,

I did put the coupon in my cart and pushed the "Apply Coupon" button, hoping that this would mean that the coupon would count even though it did not give me any discount (which I knew would be the case).  I had hoped that the coupon would register as being used even without generating a discount, because I know that prime items can be used to make the total amount of an order eligible for coupon use, but I did not realize that in order for the coupon to be counted, I had to put at least one non-prime item in the cart even though the total amount of the order was already above $16.
