kenmo ( ) posted Tue, 02 July 2013 at 12:53 PM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 10:21 PM

If I rig a character in Blender will the rigging be lost when/if I import the model into DAZStudio or Poser?

I'm  a Blender newbie....

Thanks kindly...

If you use a format like Collada DAE, or FBX format, depending on the export and import options/restrictions of the programs you're using, the theory is you should be able to transfer stuff like rigging intact. Its not a simple process tho, and usually requires your rig be set up a very specific way depending on the source and destination. Don't know how well Poser/Daz support those formats, and I've had minimal luck with Blender's FBX export, but it was many moons ago that I was working with the FBX format.

Poser at least will not import any other rigging but it's own :(, so if you want to rig a figure you have to do it in Poser. I dunno about D|S :).
