Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
For good C4D export to .obj use Riptide. Use PoseRay to convert LightWave to .obj. IIRC, in a recent thread a LightWave user was saying Poser's LW import was a bit dodgy. Since .obj is Poser's native format, it may be best to try exporting that from an application and importing - depends, some format exports/imports are probably better than others.

ya, long discussion on exporting from Lightwave on this thread http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2869986
Net result. get LW 11.5.1 or 10.1 or earlyer and export as obj as poser doesnt recognise LWO groupings (parts). make sure you set edit > general options > obj exporter to include "parts" and it will all work out nicely
I think the reason for your question is important. Are you asking because you want to use 3rd party models or are you asking because you want to create models to import into Poser? The problem with supporting 3rd party files is the format gets superseded very quickly (normally the next release of the original app) and the importer may only ever been able to convert some of the functions available to the orginal program so if the reason for the question is you are looking to use 3rd party models then my recommendation is you check compatibility with Poser before purchasing (or if the model is free be prepared for it not to work). The latest version of Poser has improved support for other formats so it might be worth checking what these are.
Nah, that's much too much faffing about. Just use Pose Ray to convert, if necessary. If it works, it works. If it don't, it don't.
But then, I'm a big believer in "I wonder what this big red button does?" :D

Hi
I use Poser 2010, amateur user.
Could someone please advise what models I can import into Poser
I know obj can be imported
Can cd4 and max be imported and if so is there any particular procedure to apply
Ideal would be list of model formats Poser 2010 can import.
Many thanks for your previous help
Thanks
