Hello all and hope your week is off to a good start.

I was wondering if someone could could point me to a tutorial on the Material Select Tool in Posers Material room.

Someone once showed me how to select and copy the mats from one object and apply to another object in my scene but I lost my notes.

Please can someone help me with this?

Thanks

Steel

Two ways. Either save the material as a mt5 by using the + in the materials palette, or simply, if it's a "here and now" thing, first right clickon the Poser Surface thing (at least I thik you should right click...) then first select "select all" then "copy"  Now you can use the Paste to put it on other things or bodyparts.

(Sorry if it's a bit vague, I'm at work so I'm going by memory)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

If you are trying the copy and paste, TG almost has it right.  Right-click anywhere within the Poser Material Room for the popup menu and highlight select all.  All the nodes will become highlighted, right-click again and select copy.  Go to the new Material Zone and right-click, paste.  You can use keyboard commands for copying and pasting.

However, if you are not careful with this method, you will also copy the material image node along with the select.  If you want to highlight only a few nodes, then left-clicking while holding the Ctrl key will only highlight those nodes of interest.

But I see by your screencap, you are only interested in procedural shader nodes.

That's for going by memory L

And I never thought of the ctrl clicks :) I just usually paste the whole thing and then change the imagemap (like on v4), I go material zone by material zone L And then change the image map on the first on the new one :)

(and yes I know VSS is made for this, but I've never figured out how to make new settings for that feels stupid)

I was about to suggest VSS which would be an optimal solution.  Creating additional zones is easy, however, copy and pasting the shaders into VSS is a little tricky.  For the script to work correctly, the shader nodes must be renamed according to the standards BB created for the program.  Luckily, there is a subscript to do that.
