Subject: invisible object?

DarkElegance ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2013 at 6:38 AM · edited Sat, 18 January 2025 at 9:20 PM

I tried to load an older item into a scene. it is a butterfly. the tongue shows up but the body, legs, wings, etc do not. they show in the drop down for items in the scene. but the actual figure doesnt appear.  I have tried to change the figure display etc...but it still is invisible.

Also in the material room the materials are showing up properly. just in render or in preview...no figure...

any fix for this?

btw-yes it is marked visible and visible in raytrace etc.

Hm it sounds like Poser can't find the actual obj file. In that case it will show up like that. It's still listed because the lines in the cr2/pp2 are there.

Take a look in the actual file and see where it wants the obj to be. And then check that it's there. It may have been corrupted - or deleted by accident :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

I did that, in the geometries folder is the obj. I checked the CR2 in a notepad and it seems to be pointing to the correct folder...I am at a loss as to why it is invisible.

THOUGH oddly enough. when I load the figure. the body doesnt show but the tongue does.  I do not get it

The tongue might be rigged as a prop with embedded geometry, so it's available while the separate OBJ isn't available.   I'll bet you can find something that looks like this in the CR2:

prop tongue
        {
        storageOffset 0 0 0
        geomCustom
                {
                v -0.058140 0.146280 -0.317380
                v -0.058140 0.146280 -0.317380
                v -0.058140 0.146280 -0.317380
                v 0.058140 0.146280 -0.317380
and so on.

Which Poser version are you using?  Transmaps will be wonky with Pro Series and P9 because of enabled GC in the render settings.  Those map types need to have their individual gamma's set to one.
