I have tried to install Reality3 in Poser9.  Not having any luck.  I have installed LuxRender but I'm not sure it took.  I have upgraded to SP3 but cant get a verification that it took either.  There is no "Reality Render Editor" in the Render pulldown.  I am to understand that these are easy installs...So I guess that makes me an idiot. (LOL)

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated

64 bit....Windows 7 Ultimate.  C:drive>programs>Smith Micro>Poser9>Runtime>Python>Reality3

Directions say that there should be an "addon" folder in the Python folder, but there isn't one in my poser9 program.  I'm afraid that I've dug myself in pretty deep with this purchase.  More problems than the program was worth...I think

Ok, there are two issue and they are both very easy to solve.

First is the lack of the addon folder. That means that you don't have the Poser Service Pack 3 (SR3) installed. Download it from Smith Micro and install it. Do not create the addons folder yourself, that is not the problem. The problem is that your Poser is lacking the whole SR3 installation.

Reality must be installed under the addons directory, that is not changeable. Your location is not working so you need to delete that Reality3 directory. BTW, once you will have the SR3 install you'll need to install Reality in a directory called Reality. That is simple because you just need to copy what is obtained from the zipfile. Just drag and drop.

Second, you must match the bitness of the application with the plugins. Although you have Windows 64-bit Poser 9 is a 32-bit application so you need to install the 32-bit version of Reality. That is one of the advantages of using the Poser Pro version, it brings 64-bit computing. Poser 9 is a 32-bit app.

I really thank you for the help you giving me.

BUT Nope!  Still no addon file in Python.  

SP3 was installed. Under help menu in Poser9; in the "About Poser" section, it says that I have Poser 9.0.3.23027.   It had been 9.0.1.....

Truth be known, I really have WAY to much invested in this poser9 program to have to reinstall it just to get the Reality3 to work.  So, if there is no other way to get to work, then I'll just try to get reimbersed for this program.  If they'll allow me to do that

So, whatever you can do to help further I'll try...just won't reinstall Poser9

You don't need to re-install Poser, just the SR3 (not SP3). If the addons folder is not there it means that the installation is not properly finished.

SR3 IS installed.  If the installation is not complete, then what can I do to get it to complete?

There is an addon folder in P9/PP2012, but it isn't under the Python menu.  If my memory serves me correct, I believe that the folder might be under the Windows menu towards the very bottom.  I am not at my own computer right now to verify that location.  Perhaps later today.

I just rebooted my PC and I reinstalled the SR3.1 and STILL there is no addon folder in Python.   If I can't get the program to work, then I'll just have to give up and cut my losses.  Right now this program is worth little more than a digital paperweight and a REAL source of aggrivation.

addons folder should be located at:

[YOUR POSER INSTALLATION]RuntimePythonaddons

If you used the default installation options in 64-bit Windows 7, the [YOUR POSER INSTALLATION] part is something like: C:Program Files (x86)Smith MicroPoser 9

In the addons folder there should already be a "PythonShell" folder and a poseraddon.py file, so that you know you are in the right place.

Found what I was doing wrong.  Thank you Netherworks.  When I first installed Poser 9, I also had Poser 6 (Still do) I thought that P9 was a 64 bit so I installed it in the "program" files.  But my original install was in Program files(x86).  This is my working program....NOT the install made to the "Program" folder.  I opened poser9 via the x86 file and there the addon file was.  And now I've access to the Reality3 program.
