From the old report, C9 is expected out the first quarter of next year; march-april{?}.

I didn't say I expected it out ;)

I read through the features and fixes. I hope they mean they have tweaked autofit so it does. lol

Kixum ( ) posted Sat, 17 August 2013 at 10:36 AM

I guess the obvious question is what will 8.5 cost and what will 9 cost.

What's the word on 8.5? I have avoided the betas, as C8 works well enough for what I do.

Does C8.5 actually, really, truly import genesis characters in a usable way?

While genesis stuff would be nice, I don't really need it, so does C8.5 have any bug fixes, etc. that make it better than C8?

Thanks

Well so far, excluding the odd hair/smart prop issue, Genesis and G2F work well in C8.5. If the autofit has been tweaked to work better that will help a lot. {still no dresses though}

But the bullet physics tweak is nice . I've worked with it quite a bit. It allows you to drape most clothes; although if they're real fancy you may have to use softbody attatched so they don't fall apart. So far it works with all figures clothes. Not quite dynaimc but a step closer.

Slight give away would have been that they only gave a new serial for the beta that lasts 2 weeks ;)

Now I am waiting on this so called "small fee" they claim we will have to pay, they have fooked the bug tracker so no one can see the old bugs anymore - hiding something are we daz ;)

I've had my guesstamations pulled from DAZ a few times. I'm figureing the regular price to be aproxemently half the cost of a full upgrade, so half that; maybe about $45-65. And that may actually be optimistic.

I think that will be pretty accuret. But I have to wonder just whom DAZ thinks is going to spend $100 on a .5 update, even for 64bit pro.

That's assumtions and guesses, no facts involved.

I'm still looking for the pricing. DAZ has got to know what price tag they are putting on this, maybe monday we will know. But I get a bit apprehencive when a company waits till the last minute to release pricing info. Like they know what sort of brewhaha it will cause and don't want to kick it off early.

My X used to pull the same thing. knock, knock, knock "Oh did I tell you Joann was coming over"?

My script for DAZ.

We will get the pricing late friday. The pricing even at 50% off will make the more fruggle of us cringe. There will be a blow out on the DAZ forum that will result in pulled posts and warned posters. It will come out monday at the previous stated price to lack luster sales. And it will some how be our fault.

That sound about right?

I mean I know there will be people up set by the pricing regardless. That is just a gimme. There will be peopel that gripe about having to pay for Genesis compatability that is free in studio. Or having to pay for bug fixes. But I'm sure for most it will be a value thing. Is what DAZ is giving us worth what DAZ is charging for it?

I have found my best value for $ from the add-ons.  Fenric, for example, has the best little utilities for just pennies.  :)

I am delighted to hear that I can use dynamic clothes now, I gave up on them long ago.

Even innocuous posts that bring attention to marketing strategies will get pulled. (Been there, and I am always non-confrontational.) Marketing departments live in their own little kingdoms.

Too true.

It's not true dynamics, you can't really animate; or I can't. But you can drape any clothes, just select the model and add the soft body physics modifier. For belts, buotton, zippers, ect use the soft body attatched to keep them from falling off.

Poser dynamic clothes work well if you don't mind pulling polies to make them fit the pose. I'm sure some one could figureout some other way to do it with taget helpers and such, but I only understand about 1/4 of carrara

Was just reading on the DAZ carrara forum. Please http://carraracafe.com/ and leave the DAZ cheerleading{or else} behind.

I went to update my password on CarraraCafe, it allowed me too.  THen logged me off so I could re-login.  Now old password and new password doesn't work.  I thought I need to be more active on there.  I tried the lost password.  Nothing came through in email.  Anyone know who to contact?

Hi people, I will take a look at the problem, but I saw that a lot of things are old there... I will update the system right now, so you can try again more later.

I really sorry for that, but its very hard to take control of a comunity like that without a way to pay my bills.

I know there was a couple of others taking care of things, but they don't seem at all active anywhere right now. Work and life I assume.

Read on the DAZ forum from a DAZ rep they can't give out the price. See "absurd".

I think DAZ marketing has taken a hike too. Does anyone there actually know what they are doing now?

Marketing should be taking this time to create a void, yet if you aren't active on the carraracafe you never would have known this. DAZ actually stickied a thread started by a user, rather then announce it themselves on the DAZ forum.

I see no one pushing it, no one showing it off, no one making claims about it's greatness; well dartenbeck is lol. But really, why isn't DAZ marketing hyping this?

Look at Hivewire3d. They created a void for Dawn, had people chomping at the bit. When she was released the download demand crashed the server, repeatedly.

DAZ's news about the impending release of C8.5 amounted to a popcorn fart in the breeze.

The only thing DAZ has managed to do is make people aprehensive about the pricing. Note to DAZ marketing, that does not sell units.

Dear Hivewire, start saving your money, DAZ may be on the market, sooon. Of coarse wouldn't that be like buying your old used car back?
