Subject: Stark white pages yet again?

Adobe_One_Kenobi ( ) posted Tue, 20 August 2013 at 3:28 PM · edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 1:00 AM

Why oh why do you feel it necesary to keep sending these pages white?  As before when you have sight problems, this stark white is very very painful.   Some of us have 22 inch bright monitors, and this does not help things along.  I recall the problems of this before, and it was all darkened down nicely.  This white is total CRAP!

I saw a change as well just now...I dont like it either...it's too bright

I too thought it was a cascading style sheet failure, so I left if for a bit, even cleaned up all my browser history and so forth, this is dreadfuly painful

MrsRatbag ( ) posted Tue, 20 August 2013 at 7:53 PM

Weird.  I hate this.  My comments and exif data are not showing despite being checked to do so.  And the white white WHITE really hurts my eyes.

Adobe_One_Kenobi ( ) posted Tue, 20 August 2013 at 7:55 PM

And what's with the hideous green buttons?

MrsRatbag ( ) posted Tue, 20 August 2013 at 7:56 PM

OK, I had checked the comments to float above, and it was ignoring the fact that they were there.  If I check it for comments below then it appears with the exif.  I REALLY don't like this.  What about a pale grey, and leaving stuff that ain't broke alone????

Adobe_One_Kenobi ( ) posted Tue, 20 August 2013 at 7:59 PM · edited Tue, 20 August 2013 at 8:00 PM

I guess they missed the age old adage "If it isn't broke don't fix it."  AND I have to say IMHO that for a site that is dedicated to "Art" the IT seems to be seriously lacking in artistic vision.

Dear Renderosity owners and staff.

Can everything be changed as it was before.

The white bacground will damage everyones eyes.

I can also not see who commented on my upload.

The only thing that i do see is every artists avatar and not the persons username underneath their avatar when commenting.

Please! please I beg the owners and admins of Renderosity to change evrything back as it was before.

Blessed day and week.

God bless.

I'm in agreement with the complaints. May I suggest that it might be more effective to post them either in:

  1. http://www.renderosity.com/gallery-improvements-cms-16741

  2. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showforum.php?forum_id=12472

The first is specifically for comments on this latest round of gallery changes & the second is the Suggestion Box forum.

We can voice our opinions on the Gallery changes here at this link as well.

It can be seen when you are on the Renderosity Home page, under site announcement and Gallery improvements.

God bless.

Whomever it is who keeps changing this site is certainly NOT a photographer or dare I say even an artist of any kind. This bright white is just plane stupid. Those info buttons are an absolute waste of time, and why or why is there a huge DELETE MY GALLERY button staring striaght at me all the time. Is someone giving me a sublte hint!!!!! I used to be able to hover over a thumbnail and get info on the shot. Can I still do that? As of now I don't seem to be able to.

helanker ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2013 at 2:36 AM

FIrst i want to praise you for finally giving us back the comment space, that was so badly needed. BRAVO FOR THAT!   And I do like the little extra possibility for adding a comment to a comment. Super.

I am not so much against the White page. I am in ipernity too and it is white all over and I just love that site.

What I Dont like is, that my "scroll finger" is getting SICK of scrolling my socks off, every time I go to a gallery. But that is not new, It has been so, since you just HAD to put double links and commercials and this and that piled over eachother. There is so much unnecessary crap on the page, that nobody needs. We have even to scroll down to our own pictures more than a full page size, just because you want to show you are Renderosity with all the double links and commercials.

And now there is even more scroll, just to find the more important stuf.  The comments. SO MUCH waste of space on this size.   THAT is pretty annoying. Please use the space for necessary stuff and not just to just make it look fancy, which it doesnt anyway.

Ilona-Krijgsman ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2013 at 2:52 AM

****helanker - you hit the nail on the head - the scrolling is really annoying....perhaps that is the reason that there are less visitors lately and that many members leave this community ... as I did...there are too many pop ups on each side

What annoys me the most is that the posted images are completely lost between all the buttons, frames, and lines of all diferent colors and tones and sizes. The French have a fitting word for this: cacaphonie...

Not a pleasing environment to show your images at all, to say the least.

Get rid of the crap it's easy.  Grab firefox then get the adblock plus addon.  No crap on my pages, just the crap white.

Well are we expected to take a wild stap in the dark as to what the error is, or do we wait for the grey text on white which is hard to read.  I am assuming we have white text on a white background here ???

alanwilliams ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2013 at 11:54 AM

This site is now so complicated and dreadfully designed i'm seriousl thinking of calling it a day

I think Christo is refering to the stark white Carin.  I have cured it via a diferent OS setting.  That white is/was so painful to the eyes.

Yeah Ronnie - but you are clever.... :):)

As I understand it they are apparently going to change the white but hasn't yet. It will probably take a couple of days!

I'm off to bed now - had a TOUGH day!

blinkings ( ) posted Thu, 22 August 2013 at 4:05 PM

Now that I have tried out these white pages, I can say that they are hurting my eyes. I can actually feel myself squinting, which TOTALLY ruins the fun of browsing the site. Please fix it. I will not be able to stay here if I have to look at this everyday.

Andrew

Adobe_One_Kenobi ( ) posted Thu, 22 August 2013 at 5:33 PM · edited Thu, 22 August 2013 at 5:34 PM

Here  here Andrew.  Though Carin did mention on the previous page they intend to fix it,  Let's hope so mate.  Otherwise there will be tons of members, not just in the photographic section that will give rendo the flick.  I hope it don't come to that, save for this latest balls up, it is a great site.

kgb224 ( ) posted Thu, 22 August 2013 at 9:09 PM

Yay the stark white has been changed to grey. Has the same changes been applied to evryone else here?God bless.

Adobe_One_Kenobi ( ) posted Thu, 22 August 2013 at 9:11 PM

Yeah I have seen it Chrissto, stil a bit contrasty for my taste

helanker ( ) posted Fri, 23 August 2013 at 1:59 AM

Yes, this is better. I assume, why they didnt make it darker, maybe was because they would have to change the text colors too. But i would so love to get rid of the big ugly white screeming copyright box included the little white facebook boxes and the other little link boxes. Why do they need to be so screeming...and why aare they not in one line... Another waste of space.  We can read, so we know what each link means, so we dont need to have it in their own LINE.

Same with Details, Statistic and Photograph  They could easily stay in one line too.  It would fill 1/3 space.

This looks like the place to lodge my opinion about the pages. Yes, the stark white pages were not very cool. It hurt my eyes. But I think it went a little too far to the left. I can barely see the text at all now. What was the setting before this latest change? I didn't notice because I wasn't having problems reading anything. Just lighten the grey up a bit. There has to be reasonable contrast between background and text.
