Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 08 9:27 am)
I know it's probably not much help NOW, but I would seperate everythng that didn't need to be in contact.
You could save your scene under a new name, and delete everything excpet the characters you need to see to interact with each other.
Save the original scene again with only the props.
Once again for all background characters.
Then you can work on each element in isolation, including all parenting etc.
When you've got everything as close as possible, append each scene into one unified scene again and just do the minor fixes before render.
mo·nop·o·ly [muh-nop-uh-lee]
noun, plural mo·nop·o·lies.
1. exclusive control of a commodity or service in a particular market,
or a control that makes possible the manipulation of prices
you can change parentinf by dragging and dropping in the heirarchy editor. You can collapse the figures body parts to make the list smaller and I think hide the cameras and lights. It may be easier than the commands list.
I dont know any shortcut keys, they should be in the poser manual, or generic windows keys.

Here's a script that can help. Select the prop (like bracelet or necklace) and activate the script. First hit the Find Nearest button. The script will work for a while, then locate the nearest *part of a figure* to the prop. It will indicate the name of that nearest part. If this is the part you want, hit the Set Parent button, and the script will make the prop a child of the chosen body part.It works on the basis of centers, so it's especially good with 'surrounding' props like bracelets. It will miss sometimes, and you'll still have to do the job manually.
The ZIP contains two versions. The one with TK in its name is for P7 and earlier, with TKinter style Python. The one with WX in its name is for P8 and later, with WX style Python.

Also try out my old SnapTo script. It helps to bring a prop near the desired item. Of all the scripts I've written, SnapTo is the one I use most often by a LONG SHOT.My python page

Does anybody know if it's possible to use keyboard commands to scroll through the Change parent dialogue box? I'm using 5 figures with clothing, plus a background of nearly 200 props and it's extremely frustrating to try to move that touchy little slider through all of them to find the body part or prop I'm looking for. I'm over 60 and don't have the manual dexterity I used to.
I'm running poser 7 on windows xp.
