Does anyone know if any vendor is planning on doing a Merchant Resource for DAWN?

Vicky 4 has several. Dawn needs at least a couple and I prefer to make my characters look unique rather than use generic Dawn or someone else's character sets.

There is this from hivewire3e, you can use the included textures as a MR.

• Dawn Base Figure- Native Poser Vertex Weight-Mapped Figure (Requires Poser 9 or newer)
• Native DAZ Studio TriAxTM Weight Mapped Figure (Requires DAZ Studio 4.5 or newer)
• Clothing Resource Developer Suit - this can be used to create new products (not for creating freebies)
• High Resolution Skin Textures - these can be used to create new products (not for creating freebies)

He's correct..the Dawn default texture is also a merchant resource.

On the Dawn product page, below - in the description. Can't link it since it's another commercial site ;).

all I see are Dawn templates. is that what you are referring to?

A number of the messages in the thread above have been edited to remove the link to products on other commercial sites, a practice that is forbidden by the TOS here at Rendo.

Please understand, no one is being taken to task. I believe this to have been an hionest error in judgement, and I've simply fixed the thread to make it site compliant.

Please don't take this as a critism as it isnt, just my opinion. 

As a customer, I'm stearing clear of anyone who uses the MR/Textures that Dawn came with.  I have seen a few in the market place already which have use these, and yes they do look different (except for a few who have used 'those brows') but it may end up all samey after a while. Having said this I probably have got one that did but I am now holding off getting any until I see someone who has stated they have created it from scratch or another MR pack/photos.

I have a discussion with one other on the matter and she also feels the same and will not get anything that says that the original texture has been used in that creation. If we feel like this then there are bound to be others.

I think HW made a bad choice in letting that be used as MR :(

Lully, may I ask why? Just because of the potential of others looking similar? I'm not a vendor, just curious.

To some degree it will look similar, eventually, the brows are abig giveaway also the fact I already own the texture and am capable of adapting it myself with ezskin or in photoshop to add and remove or change the colour of things, I know alot of folk wont do that but there are a few that will pass it by. 

I want to start off by getting different skins for Dawn, I'm keeping an eye on RawArt's skin thats in the making (forums at daz)

As I said, I would like a "Living Doll" Mr for Dawn as you get so many options with these type of product.

In the end, if a lot of items are samey, then it's down to the artist.

Yes those packs are fine, the more there are out of them the better as you probably can swap across them and things will be unique, I dont mind that.  I have some old Bice v3 ones that I go back to every so often, they are probably 7 years old and still good to take bits from to ring the changes.

Exactly what I do!! Lol.

As long as the maps are the same size, you can have loads of fun.

The trick is to take the skin and transform it so it doesn't look samey.

You can have X amount of characters using the same skin and, yep, you can spot the skin straight away.

So, a little bit of advice, please try something different folks, it's not just a case of changing about 5% of the skin and trying to fool us.

Also, once the skins do start coming out, we need resources, I have seen a few for Dawn, but we want makeups, lips, bruises, ripped skins etc. These then give people the imagination to go off and come back with things to amaze us.

Ha! Witchypoo...I made one for Antonia...maybe I should make a morph for Dawn too. It was ugly...REAL ugly. LOL

The one prob I find with most MR skins that are not here at Rendo is the fact they don't put in the promos if you can use it for freebies.

Easy enough here, look at the read me, no freebies, okay.

Now, pop over to other sites where you can't read the read me file and you don't know what you can or cannot do.

So, just a nore for MR makers, please let us know what we can and cannot do in one of your promos.

These renders are both made with EZSkin - of course there is a three side view provided with just bump and texture. But as it's nude and I want to keep this thread open for everybody I save it for the product pages

By the way: You may like the lash resource. I added different sets that can be combined (and, of course, combined with your own ideas).

I saw that you discussed cool ideas like green skin and so on. I can not guarantee that this will end up without seams. Just for the case...

Oh, SaintFox, I love that skin, so luminescent!  As a huge Dawn fan, I will definitely be buying it!  

The luminiscence is done by EZSkin, I have added additional comments to the images that where rendered with it. But EZSkin is free and so it's no problem to recreate the effect.

The lights I've used are pretty simplistic - I am planning on a set made especially to work with EZskin.

Paganeagle just told me in another thread I started that you were making a Living Doll set for Dawn, SaintFox... that's fantastic! The previews here look very nice... I will look forward to it appearing in the store :-)

That was my intention as the skin that ships with Dawn is already pretty tanned. So I thought variety was what people need. By the way: Except of tweaking out some effects caused by the flashlight the skin is left as is. The model on my photoset had this fair, bright skin. I really like what you did.
