HI,

I reinstalled Vue 11.5 & Poser Pro 2014 after a drive wipe. Now I cannot import any PZ3 I create from Poser Pro 2014.

I have the both use file compression & Use external binary morph targets unchecked. I have the SDK version 2012 set up in Vue.

I did get two additional updates beyond 11.5, where before there was only 1 additioninal one after 11.5.

I am at Build version 11.50-04  Build 11007167

The error comes up " Error in Poser SDK (Scan File Failed)

Unable to read file C:userRIckDesktopuntitled.PZ3

Please check your Poser Import configurations in options."

 

I am totally lost here.

I uninstalled the update dated September. Made no difference. Still am not able to import PZ3 file.

By now there are quite a number of threads about this by now. The only thing we can tell you is that it seems that the newest poser isn't supported yet.

Well, I just spoke to Smith Micro & their comment to me was

"We do not provide the support for Poser Scenes for Vue. That is developed and provided by eon software, the makers of Vue.
John Csaky | Customer/Tech Support"

 

I heard back from Vue & they said to me exactly what I told them in my original message.

They said to use the latest Poser SDK & I told them in my original message I was using Poser SDK Sept. 20212, which is the latest.

They suggested I try to run the Collect Scene Inventory utility script in Poser. Then save the PZ3 & the associated files that made it up into a temp file & try again.

I did that & still got the same error message.

I wish I could get a straight answer from them. Something like, we are working on a SDK for Poser 10/Poser Pro 2014 & it should be available in about .... :(

It wouldn't surprise me at all if official Poser 2014 appears when Vue 12 is released, after all they want people to have as many reasons as possible to buy it. Strange that they told you to use the latest SDK, that was released over a year ago, way before Poser 2014 was released.

I found it odd they'd suggest that in itself, let alone the fact that I already told them I was using it, in my original ticket to them. Never a straight answer from these people.

 

Thats probably exactly what they are waiting for. I can see it: Vue 12 now officially released, with the latest SDK for Poser 10/Poser Pro 2014 users. Get it while its hot!

You're welcome and let's hope I'm wrong and they'll release an update for the poser sdk soon, so you and everyone else can use the newest poser version with Vue 11/11.5.

I like your trees by the way. I have some of them in poser. Sadly can't use them in Vue.

You can always export them as obj and place them in a folder and find the textures with it. Even better, create a new folder and export them as collada and I think the textures will be automatically put in the same folder where the model is. Vue can import both formats. You can do that with any poser scene, but you cannot repose it and it's not always perfect with figures and hair, but with static objects it works ok.

You can also wait until friday and go to Content Paradise where all my items will be on sale then and pick up the village for Vue there for $1.99 (follow the link in my signature)..... it has a tree in it (check out the attached image). You can pick it up here at the store as well, it's on sale, but due to store policy more expensive then at CP. That is, if you've got some more cash to spare :-) If it's helpful for you can even create a toon nature set for Vue and add it to my store, converting all the toon nature objects I've got in Vue format. That will take a little while to do, I've got some other things to take care of first, but I could do that next week or so.

I will certainly go to your store over at CP & have a good look around. :)

Toons are ok, just not something work with too often. I will also check out your store here again as well.

I actually bought Vue for Poser & not the other way around. I enjoy landscape art. I also enjoy the kind of art that I do with poser. I been a poser user for 11 years. I just invested into Vue this year. The idea of being able to easily import the PZ3 files, sounded really good for me & was the selling feature for me. Even landscape art needs objects & people in it. I thought, the perfect way to get the most out of Vue. I would not of bought Vue otherwise. I actually had more then enough programs before Vue.

With Zbrush, World Machine 2, well, there listed below in my signiture. I have one other I did not list & that is Terragen 2. Steep learning curve, as they all are, except for poser.

I've had so much bad experience with importing OBJ files. They come in side ways & upside down & like you said, without textures, more often then not.

In all honesty, I really want that Pz3 import & I really don't want to have to go back to Poser Pro 2012 to get it.

I am not happy at all with E-on. They never answered my question as to whether or not that poser SDK update was in the works. That concerns me.

Lee at Eon kept his replies to about 3 lines. He never answered important questions & the suggestions he gave me, I had tried & he was made aware of that originally.

I am really frustrated with it. Tonight for no reason, the program asked me to activate Vue again. Really odd. Had to give my number number, fill out my info & send it off through the program. It came back with a congradulations .......

Sorry to rant on like this. I am normally a lot more posative. :) I really appreaciate your feedback & I've appreciated all your help.

I always export OBJs, mainly from DAZ Studio, busometime toss from Poser and I have never had issues other than doing minor reworking on some mats. Every render engine will render differently.

Mypz3s import into vue Xstream. My SDK is more recent than yours. perhaps you need to update vue in updates at eon.  Have you told e-on what poser SDK you are using?

Poser and vue together are fickle when I had this problem with Poser Pro 2012 and Vue 9 I pointed Vue to the Poser 7.exe, above all things, and I had no more problems with importation of Poser Pro 2012 .pz3 files after that. Strange.

NOPE! i have VUE xStream 12 & there is still no SDK for Poser Pro 2014. i'm trying to complete an Animation Dergree in college & this has slammed my breaks on for me. after the thousands of dollars i've spent on VUE, to upgrade from VUE 9 to 12/2014 Pro, & suddenly not be able to use my Poser files - i mean WTF is up with that?!!! here i am needing to complete my final animation project to graduate & NOPE! all the money i've dished out to help me accomplish this on a professional level & no Poser support! very unprofessional in my opinion...

what exactly do you mean by "pointed VUE to...Poser"? & how is this done? i'm desperate for a solution at this point!

File -> Options: "configure Poser Import"
If you have Poser pro 2014 Game Dev it wont work; you have to use the non-game-dev-Version.

deaddecaydead, did you see that although there isn't an sdk for 2014 there is one for 2013 (I think you were using 2012) and when you chose 2013 you can navigate to the poser 2014 folder and that should help you.
