Subject: Help please.. Cloth Room

FutureFantasyDesign ( ) posted Sat, 19 October 2013 at 2:24 AM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 12:03 AM

I am trying to make a skirt clothify and drape on the floor, feet and basically from the hip down. The calculation is 30 frames and only ticking on the floor/hips down. Did I miss something? I got a really fast draping simulation that ran up to 5000 and dumped, froze up!

I have down drapes before and have never seen this. I clothify a lot of things. I just don't know where to try to fix this?!

Ideas? Suggestions?? Help???

Is the skirt designed to be dynamic?

I'm not sure if I understand completely, but here is a tutorial I made for a dynamic gown. Here is one for a dynamic skirt and shirt.

The geometry between dynamic and conforming clothing can be quite different.  In some cases, conforming clothing may need additional alterations to make them Cloth Room ready.  Working with the OBJ, you may need to increase the poly number using UVMapper or a 3rd party modeling program to achieve the effect you want.

Some conforming skirts will work dynamically if you clothify the hip. This does not work for all skirts.

  • VonCroy> Oh! So when I'm selecting the body parts I should select the hip, not the skirt back (*that's what the section I am trying to clothify is called. It's RP's Sun Priestess)  Normally most things do this easily. Very frustrating.

*hborre> I don't do this sort of work... I am rigging and mesh deficiant! LOL!

I made a tutorial on how to convert conforming clothes to dynamic, several years ago.

Hope this helps.

OMG!!! That explains a lot! I just realized that almost everything I have clothifyed has been a prop! That is why it was always so easy!!!!

Your tut is wonderful. I now have a better knowledge of what does work.

Thank you.
