Does anyone know where I could find a 3D Model suitable for Poser of a Marine Diesel Engine like that used in a German WW2 U-Boat? I have looked all over the place without any luck. Hopefully free or not too expensive! Cheers

Have you tried Poser World? www.poserworld.com

They have a large inventory there and even have a custom model request section (but you have to pay for ultra membership for access to that). They got a teenager in to help with the custom models which should speed up output of custom models (often you can be left waiting a while) and his first works are VERY impressive. But like I said you pat access for custom models.

Hi,Thank you for your reply. I am an Ultra Life member of Poser World. and I have already got two requests in there! They recently made me a U-Boat Commander's uniform for M4. They are great but I might be asking too much for such an intricate model! Cheers

I seen your Commanders uniform, it is good work by Steve. Post your engine request and keep your fingers crossed. The new guy over there is ace at hard surface stuff, you probably already seen the few he made since he joined the Poser World team a few ago.

Steampunk sword.

WIP shot of a cannon he is working on it at the moment.

And this seeing eye harness for the Millenium dog:

Post some reference pictures of the engine you want made and see if your luck holds out.

How accurate does it have to be - will something vaguely engine-y do, or does it have to satisfy a WWII U-boat nut in every detail? :)

There are a few generators and such-like scattered about, and if that might do the job I'll hunt one out. Baumgarten has some industrial stuff in 3DS format if 'vaguely engine-y' is good enough.

It doesn' have to satisfy a WW2 U-Boat nut in every detail. If you saw the movie DAS Boat there is a scene with two engineers in the engine room of a U-Boat doing their thing!

I just want to to do a quick animated scene of the engine room in action. They seem to have two engines one right and one left side. Cheers

My apologies - although I could remember seeing props and models along those lines, nothing I have in my collection is at all close now I come to look through it. Sorry for getting your hopes up. :( I'll keep my eyes open.

maybe try your luck here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=1152450

Someone made the model on the frontpage. Anyway sounds like the place to go hunting for a submarine nut with 3D interests.

Otherwise: there's plenty of images from a U-boat engine room on the web. Set one as background, add a few shadow catcher cubes and cylinders.  It may bring you a long way.
