Isn't this just an organizational plan? I'm not saying anything is wrong with it, and I agree sorting in to runtimes rather then having 1 conglomerate makes working with content much easier. But how they are organized is more how it makes sence to you.
My runtimes are sorted by figure, then animal, archatechture, vehicals ect. I've went even further in runtimes that still got huge. Like I had to brake "props" to archatecture, assorys, vehicals. I even resorted my V4 pose folder to morphs, poses, and skins; sub folders in V4 pose folder. I could; should, also sort her figures folder to different eras of clothes.
But for me how deeply a runtime needs sorting is dependent on how big it is. When it gets hard to wade through the browser to find something, it is time for a deeper sorting. As in my flora runtime is small and needs no sub folder sorting where as my V4 folder is huge so folders like poses and figures need sorting in to sub folders like mideval, modern, scifi ect.

Yes totally agree. This is why your run time is a living breathing animal, and as you say gets sub-topics depending on how you expand your collection.
I was just giving a kind of "through-the-keyhole" look into my own runtime, which for me has resulted in much quicker scene set up, and a lot less frustration.
Quote - I never altered my runtime from the original settting. This is due to all the threads I remember reading of people who had and Carrara could no longer find anything.
It is a headache to sort through things to find what I need, but I try.
This is why I install new stuff to the desktop. That way I can see what is going to be put where and I alter it before it's copied into the Runtime folders. I cover this in the video.
Good luck if you go for it!
I always install to a dummy folder, then sort.
An issue I am having now is I use Xdresser a lot. I've converted up and over a lot of clothes; mil2/3 up to 4{with morphs}, Hiro clothes to Luke, ect. So I have some messy hard to wade through, "iconvert" folders. I know how to manually sort it all, but that can get teadious. I've hunted for but have yet to find a free app that can just pull out content from a runtime and drop it in a folder for sorting out/renaming.

How to organize your Poser Runtime for quick and flexible Scene set up.By grouping related items together in "themes" not by vendor and the grouping in which they were bought, you'll be able to mix and match similar items together very quickly.
I've also found a way of dressing the characters quickly by grouping within historical era and World Region, then POSER / DAZ character.
The most difficult section to organize is your pose directory. I explain my approach here too. The most fun is the props directory which is covered in detail.
Note that this is a constant work in progress, because the more props / scenes you add of a particular type, the more necessary it is to split them out into their own directory.
