Subject: I"m having Some Problems with Poser Installation And Daz Figure Installation

Detrick420 ( ) posted Fri, 15 November 2013 at 3:25 PM · edited Sat, 15 February 2025 at 11:47 AM

So I've had Poser2012 on my computer for a while. I didnt have any additional content and yesterday I went to Daz and purchased a v4.2 bundle finally!! =)

I tried several times and read several posts about how to install v4.2 into poser and I just couldnt figure it out.

For some reason I installed it many times and made several runtimes but she just wouldnt show up in my library. By this point I cluttered up everything and thought if I uninstall poser and reinstall maybe I could get things how they used to be.

I purchased a digital download and ran into some problems last night with getting the library to display. I did updates on windows and IE updates and now the library displays fine. The problem is there is only a slight fraction of the original poser content in it. No poser figures at all, just the walkdesigner and few other options.

I've uninstalled and re installed several times and right at the end of extracting all the poser content I get a message saying "The Installer executable for a selected content package was not found in this installers source directory F:DownloadsPoserPro2012 Installer WinContentPoser Props.exe." Then I get the same message for "PoserNudes.exe","Poser Hair.exe","Poser Cartoons.exe","Poser Clothing.exe",and "Poser Animals.exe"

So I'm sure its an easy fix I'm obviously new at this but. If I could get my library back to normal I would then like to try again to get v4.2 into poser as well. Any help is much appreciated. Thankx

You neglected to mention which OS you are using to load PP2012.  If you are using Win7/Win8, then you must install PP2012 with the default placing your Poser Content into a shared folder under Documents.  The pathway for Poser content must point that folder.  There are several threads in the forum which give more thorough explanations.

Now, did the V4 package you d/l'ed contain zip files or exe installers?  If installers, the exe will not recognize Poserpro.exe as the valid app install; you must create a dummy Poser.exe and place it in a folder containing a runtime.  If the bundle contains zip files only, then unzip to a runtime of your choice or create your own.

V4 must also be initialized before being used. The installer should put an icon on your desktop to do that. Double click and run it.

Thanks so much for the replies, I managed to get poser and all the content back working with no problems last night. Now im going to try and get v4.2 into poser, but before I do so I figured I'd ask a few questions. If possible I'd like to gain a greater knowledge on how to get things into poser so I dont run into problems the next time I try to purchase more figures, morphs or clothing.

I have PoserPro 2012 on windows7. Poser content currently is in My Documents in a shared folder. Do I have to keep all additional content from now on in My Documents?Should I now create another file in My Documents titled v4.2 or something of the sorts and then inside that file create another file called Runtime?

Everything Ive read says not to save the content to the runtime, but I should save the content to the folder holding the runtime.

Also when I get the daz downloader where should I have it send the files to?  There is an option in the downloader that installs the files as well. Should I disable this option or use it?

I've just been trying to download and get in the one file called "v4.2 base" do I need to download all of them?

I guess Im totally lost. Im just not sure if it matters where I download the Daz installer to or where I should have it send the files after it downloads them, and if I should have the Daz Downloader program install the files as well.

You can create another empty runtime structure and put all your additional content there if you like. Or create a new runtime for each figure or one for props, one for sets and scenes, etc - however you'd like. You can link each additional runtime to the library thru Poser :)

I have a separate runtime for each figure. Some folks like to separate runtimes by content type. The beauty is you can do whatever suits you best.

Thanks so much Laurie, Im trying to keep everything organized but its a learning process for sure. I've now got a few questions about conforming clothes to a figure. Is there a way to make it so if I move a morph dial the clothing will follow the figure? Also I only have the v4 content that she came with, would I need to buy addition "Dynamic Clothing"? (not quite fully sure what that means"

hborre ( ) posted Mon, 18 November 2013 at 2:02 PM

Dynamic and conforming are 2 different methods of fitting clothing to a model; dynamic requires the Cloth Room, conforming can be performed in the Pose Room.  Once conforming clothing is "fitted" to the model, using the morph dial on the model should force the clothing to follow the morph provided that the morph exists in the clothing.  With V4, there are conforming magnets which should eliminate much of the pokethroughs when posing the figure.

Everyone here is so kind thank you for the responses. I'm having issues now with getting some of the injectors to work. I can load say an individual morps from the  mophs++ package, but if I select INJ Morphs++  (thinking that would load all of them) nothing happens. I purchased some additional content by XandM and I simply clicked the injectors and the morphs were applied and were also displayed in the parameters tab.

I then try another morph package "Sexy Shapes 4" and go to apply the INJ and nothing happens. Im pretty sure I followed the readme correctlyand installed it where it was supposed to go. It also shows up in the runtime library with all injectors and thumbnails. Its just that when I try to apply any of them nothing happens.

I see that Sexy Shapes 4 relies on the V4 Morph++ package which explains why it is not working according to your post.  Do make sure that the Morph++ package is installed into the same runtime as your base V4.  Also reinitialize whenever a new morph pack is installed.  Load a new V4 from the basic folder and attempt to apply the morph++ again.  If you are using a saved V4 model prior to installing Morph++, that figure will not have the necessary channels create to accept the INJ Morph++.

I only have the v4.2 bundle and a few other morphs so I only made one additional runtime folder. The base v4.2 and all the extra content is in there including the morphs ++. The sexy shapes 4 readme said to install to the main poser library. I installed it to the main poser runtime and my other runtime I titeled"additional content". I just wasn't sure if it mattered.

The sexy shapes content shows up in both runtime library's but when I apply to v4 figure nothin happens. Same situation when I try the morphs++ inj. Its all in the library but when I click inj v4 no additional morphs show up in the parameters. But if I individually select a morph like "thigh thickness" it does show up in there parameters tab under morphs.
