She's definitely a beauty!  And I envy your being able to see it in person.

One can see how the majority of the structure is actually cast in concrete with only the doors and window frames cut from wood.  I learned that tidbit and others from a couple of sites devoted to police box history.  One will also notice this particular model has 6 recessed panels per side (at least the 2 we can see) rather than the 8 depicted upon the various TARDIS props.  Then again, those same sites noted there have been a wide range of police box designs since their inception.  For people who only know about police boxes through Doctor Who, some of the designs will make a few people go, "Huh?!"

One that comes closest to the expected TARDIS design still stands upon Earl's Court Road.  One can see it via the Google Map link I've provided.

Sincerely,

Bill

All the Scottish-style Police Boxes in Edinburgh, which differ substantially from this design mind you, have recently been sold to the public, by the local council.

Most have been turned into tacky coffee outlets unfortunately. At least they're not being scrapped though.

Sadly I was a bit skint at the time they were up for grabs... but, even if I'd had the 60-70 grand spare, I don't think the missus would have let me...

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

They have (or had,not sure if it's still there) something that looks like that on a street, roadway, hioghway or whatever it's called down here in Hermann, missouri. Been there for several years now.

I've been wanting to snap a picture of it.

Let me introduce you to my multiple personalities. :)
